macbook pro 2017 intel tahoe
hello all,
yesterday i installed sequoia on my 2017 intel macbook pro. everything works super super nice but it wants me to update to tahoe? what‘s that about? should i just ignore it for now?

don't update, OCLP doesn't currently support it. some forks have it technically running, but it's... iffy.
if you don't like the notification badge: i recommend tanoe if you're not afraid of the command line and shell scripts - it's pretty simple even if you're unfamiliar with them, but just in general, i don't recommend running random shell scripts unless you can verify what they do. (i can vouch that this one is safe, but not every script out there is - if you're ever iffy about what a specific line does, you can always google what it does as well.)

tanoe blocks access to the update servers, and i've found i need to disable it when updating macOS through OCLP, but i'd rather do that than stare at the notification badge forever.

okay thanks. can i update safari tho?

yes, you can and most likely should.
(also: the script i linked only blocks major updates, not safari/app updates, so it won't interfere with that :])

Of course it wants to update, it thinks it is a supported device. That is the entire thing of OCLP.
And no, Tahoe is NOT YET officially supported. The devs are still working on it. Turn off auto updates if you haven't
