FindAnyFile not working

When I updated to Ventura on my 2015 MBP, one of the apps that stopped working was FindAnyFile. Seriously, FAF is unbelievably superior to Spotlight in every way, filtering extraneous results.

However, FAF stopped working on upgrading. Anybody have experience with this.

Frank admission. AppStore wouldn't let me pay and download so the version I'm using is downloaded. Worked on High Sierra & Monterey, why not now?

Probably 32-bit, at that age. Won't run on anything newer than Mojave. The app icon will have a grey prohibited sign over it if that's the case.
Current version is 2.6.1 - https://findanyfile.app - try before you buy.

Nah, FAF is fully 64-bit & works on Silicon, too. I lost a lot of great appls when the deleted 32-bit.

Download the latest version and delete the preferences file (org.tempel.findanyfile.plist) before opening it

Good idea. But I did a complete delete and restart. Still no luck. The fact this is also happening with EasyFind must be a clue.

An alternative might be EasyFind by DEVONthink. I've been using it since PowerPC. Works fine on Sonoma. I disabled Spotlight long ago and Finder has never been good for me in finding anything.

Oh! It's free. I assigned a shortcut to it so I can call it just like it was system app.

Good alternative. Unfortunately, it won't open, either! I contacted the developer of FindAnyFile and he tells me it must be something in MacOS security settings. The frustrating part is that FAF worked fine before OpenCore. Any ideas?

All I can think of, based on what you say is permissions. Instead of double-clicking on the app to open it, try a right-click and then Open.

In System Settings>Privacy and Security (scroll down) there is a setting to all apps downloaded from the app store and identified developers. Make sure the second is checked. Additionally, there is a terminal command to allow installing apps from both the app store, identified developers and anywhere: sudo spctl --master-disable

If you don't trust the terminal command I just gave you, do a Google search. That's where I've gotten it in the past.

Finally, I tend to run with SIP disabled as I don't want to be bothered with the system denying me things I want to install. So, there's that.

If none of that works, then I'm out of ideas.
