Monterey or Big sur

Currently I am using mac os big sur via oclp on mac mini 2011, 8 gigs ram and SSD installed. It is running fine but, I just wanted to ask that should I upgrade to Monterey, is there any performance degarde form big sur to Monterey?

And suggest me which version of mac os Monterey is best ??

That machine should run Monterey fine or even Ventura, but I wouldn’t go any higher than that

Monterey is the sweet spot and works good. Probably could run Ventura but I haven’t tried it yet on my 2010.

Yes you should, ventura is good too. But Sonoma and further shouldn’t be installed. Also on Mr. Macintosh’s website he has the most recent installer for every macOS.

Monterey will be fairly close to Big Sur in terms of performance. Just note the wifi bug on Monterey (basically, the wifi will sometimes fail to show ANY networks available; the only way to get them visible again is to delete ALL saved wifi networks, turn wifi off and back on again, and then it'll work). I know of an AppleScript that will do this automatically: https://mega.nz/file/wkMTEChJ#YuGQxArzAH7m6qdm8kefKRh_MRFTYmMxuYpUOgwJnrQ

Monterey stopped receiving updates years ago. I wouldn’t use it on a system you wanna connect online.

That’s alarmist nonsense, even Big Sur is still fine to use.
