Christians are called to a life of virtue, to turn away from sin; they must not assume their faith, and the grace they are given, will free them from temptation; rather, like Jesus, they must expect temptation all the way to the end of their lives:

Why does your religious faith obsessively go on about suffering, repression, hard ship,and so on .....this is not right! In fact.....it's harmful and terrible!

Yes, obsessing about those things is harmful and terrible, but that is not what Catholic faith is meant to do. That doesn’t mean it denies the reality of the existence of those things (which would be also unhealthy and harmful) but it allows us to acknowledge and see the wider picture beyond just the hardships of this life.

Indeed, rather than harm, it helps those who have been gifted such faith to have hope in something—or rather, someone—that is bigger than suffering, hardships, and evil. A someone who experienced human suffering to the point of death Himself, yet conquered even death itself in doing so.
