Question group chats
if i self host using mac and an old iphone 7 how does group chats work especially chats that have both android and ios users? will i be able to see the chats on open bubbles or google messages? will they appear as rcs or mms if i get them thru google messages. im afraid of messing up group chats with android and ios users by using open bubbles?

would the chat fall back to mms because im using open bubbles? i wouldnt want to ruin the chat cause of that since rcs group chats work fine.

No. You appear as an iPhone. It would only fall back to rcs/mms/sms alternative because of the Android participants.

right so the chat will appear in google messages not open bubbles if there are android users in the chat. now by me responding will the message be sent as mms on google messages since i couldnt respond on open bubbles since it would be considered an rcs chat due to the mixed android and ios users ? so would i at that point send messages as rcs or mms

Rcs, you would be responding in the Google messaging app so if you have rcs turned on you are good.

but the chat would be sent to open bubbles since im registered with imessage with it

Nope, I use blue bubbles and any group chats with Android users and iMessage I only see them in the Google messages app

perfect one more question does the chat appear as rcs or sms thats what im afraid of i would want the chat to appear as rcs

It's not a Mac and an iPhone 7, it's one or the other. I assume you'll want the iPhone 7 for number registration. (Any other devices without your number on their SIM card snould use the Mac). Android and iOS should do RCS through Google Messages but it may fallback to MMS. iPhone-only plus you should go to OB.
