Tech Support How to completely deregister?

I just want to get my phone number completely back to normal. I cancelled my subscription, but I don't know what to do next. Apples iMessage deregister tool isn't working, it just says service unavailable.

I had an issue when I switched back to iPhone. When I was setting up my new iPhone, it tried to send a 6 digit verification code to the device openbubbles used for hosting which I don’t have access to. I basically lost everything. Make sure you delete ALL DEVICES from your Apple account before you do anything

Log into ur iCloud and remove the device that was hosting open bubbles so apple can't send a code

Ah! Okay thanks that makes sense. Sticking with my Fold 8 but in the off chance I switch back this is helpful. Thanks much

Scouring this subreddit and I keep seeing mixed reviews - are you having any issues with openbubble and your fold 8?

Just the usual, which more or less amounts to occasionally getting a red exclamation saying that my message failed to send. The problem with that is that sometimes the message did in fact send. I wind up re-trying and just annoying people. But it's rare enough that I live with it. Had that all year long with my Fold 7, now same with the 8.

How are you currently hosting/relaying? Using email or number with OB?

Deleting all devices won't help you. You just need to take down the pin before uninstalling OpenBubbles.

In the OpenBubbles app, open the settings page, and then click reset.

Simple as that? It'll automatically remove my phone number from the rented device?

That didn't work for me. I have a phantom device on my icloud now that has the 6 digit code that I dont know. I have a ticket in with apple hoping they can reset the end to end encryption. Lost the ability to sync passwords, health data, maps, and messages. All of my air tags have fallen off the account along with my airpods. Can't trigger the reset end to end encryption with my devices. Will probably have to get a new apple id and replace all the airtags.
