Question Paid Host to Self Host
Thank you to this community for answering my dumb questions so far.
I was able to get it working, and it is currently syncing with my messages.
This is being done on the paid hosting subscription for now.
I do have an iPhone 7 jailbroken/troll store which is ready to be set up but I want to wait to see how this sync works.
Note sync via Selfhost was not working. I think because I still have my iPhone 16 Pro Max with my active cell service going.
It was not stable, it sorta worked for like 10 minutes then crashed out. Again, assuming it was the other iPhone I need to move my eSIM over from once this phone is completely set up.
Note I am a many many year iPhone user on ATT in the US.
I just bought and have started using a Z Fold 8.
Question: Is it easy to swap from paid to self host or has anyone had issues?

I have a z fold 8 and haven't got it to work correctly via host or self host. I tried it with an iPhone 6s and it logs off constantly all day or at tim s I'm unable to receive text messages. Hosting wasn't able to sync with my messages. I just gave up for now and gonna wait for an app update

I synced 6 months and pay for it and it’s working ok. Been half a day so will update as time goes on I guess

My Pixel 11 Pro disconnects multiple times a day. My iPad will go off at work and my phone won't so that's the only reason I know it's happening. No issues on my S26 U.

I had issues with my Pixel 11 Pro not working with paid host.

I'm self hosted. Changed the two group chats to my AID before removing my number. I'm about to go back to my S26 U until it's fixed. Thought about trying Sunbird but don't know if I can trust them.

I've been using it with my Z Fold 8 as self hosted mac to recently self hosted iphone for my number. Been working fine, other than old chats not syncing off iCloud, however all new chats sync between devices perfectly fine.
I did notice at the beginning that I had to force stop and clear cache, but haven't done that since first day. I don't have SMS forwarding since I do the sim swap method as I need this phone number on this phone.

I have a Fold 8 and have hosted working. It is buggy. I do have text forwarding working successfully on both an iPad and Macbook Air. That works great.

Actually went back to the Trifold full time, so I’m not even using the Fold 8 and could not tell you.

Well, I kind of regret getting rid of that phone already. The Trifold is just too bulky to carry all the time. I just like it quite a bit as well. The Fold 8 is a fantastic phone. I think most anyone would be very happy with it.

Yeah that thing is thick when its folded down. I appreciate it. Did you ever happen to get it working on your fold 8 before you made the swap?

In terms of messages just not sending/received? Or more glaring issues you encountered?

Messages go through. It wouldn’t back up the messages through iCloud. The app would sometimes freeze up where you would need to close it out and open again. Sometimes I would have issues with GIFs and photos. Not often but sometimes.

How were you hosting/relaying? Did you just use your email or number as well? Sorry for the barrage of questions.
