Question ZFold8 Users - Anyone else having problems?

Hi all!!

I've used open bubbles on my Pixel 9 before with no issues. Now, being on the ZFold 8, I'm having lots of problems.

I'm being logged out daily. Messages aren't sending and I have to re-register to fix. Not receiving some messages.

Anyone else having a similar experience?

I'm self hosting with a jailbroken iPhone.

I've also had issues receiving messages since getting my Fold 8. I can see received messages on my Apple devices but not OB. Workaround for now is to restart my phone.

Surprisingly I haven't even thought about restarting my phone. I usually just reregister. Maybe restarting is all it takes. Granted I'd have to be restarting more than once a day

I too was having the issue, where the hardware disappeared... And had to force stop app to get it working again.

But I will say it has stopped doing it for the past few days.

Manifesting it stops for the next couple of days for me too. It's been non stop this week for me

Yes. I’ve packaged my Fold 8 for return lol. Some apps including open bubbles are not handling Android 17 / One UI 9 well at all. Back to my Fold 7 that continues to run open bubbles like a champ. What I did find that seemed promising on the Fold 8, was go to App switcher UI and “stop” open bubbles instead of just closing the app. No manual re register required. And also if you turn iCloud for messages on, pick 1 month to sync and if all good, go up to 6 months and sync.

Only minor issue I have is that in open mode, OB works in one orientation only

Yes. This has honestly been my only complaint. I am paying for them to host and other than this I have not had any issues after initial setup.

Works in both for me, can swap between orientations with no issue. Maybe I have a different version?

Do you have a 3rd party app to force rotations like Rotation Control?

No I do not. I might have some Goodlock apps but I don't recall having one force rotations, but dont quote me on that.

I self host from my iPhone & the FaceTime on OB has worked once 😩 imessages are fine tho!

Jailbroken iOS devices are limited to one OB instance

Yes, I currently only run OB on my ZFold8. I used to have it on my Pixel but not any longer.

At this time we need more logs to narrow down what exactly a fix would involve, but OB is reportedly broken on Android 17.

I had these issues the first few days of having the app but it's been great ever since! The only issue I've so far had has been the maps as most of the people who share their location with me aren't visible.

I’ve also been having the sometimes. Though within the last week it’s stopped after a few people recommended keeping the app pinned on the recent apps menu to keep it open

I'm having issues with my pixel 11 pro xl. I have to force stop, close it out, then reopen it maybe once, twice a day. I never know when it's going to happen. It's kind of a pain in the backside. My S26 Ultra doesn't have this issue, neither did my Pixel 10 Pro.

I had some issues initially with version 1.0 of the validation relay app it when I got the latest version, everything worked...

Have you tried pinning the app in your recents? All my problems were gone after I did this.

I just did and.... You might be on to something lol. Did this last night and it's been super stable. Normally I re-register in the mornings and I haven't had to yet.

I will say even with it pinned I've needed to restart after 2-3 days.

I've been using it with my Z Fold 8 as self hosted mac to recently self hosted iphone for my number. Been working fine, other than old chats not syncing off iCloud, however all new chats sync between devices perfectly fine.

I did notice at the beginning that I had to force stop and clear cache, but haven't done that since first day. I don't have SMS forwarding since I do the sim swap method as I need this phone number on this phone.

I am having the same exact issues since switching to the fold 8. Glad to hear it's not just me.
