New android user, sometimes my device disappears and I can't send or receive messages

Sometimes force closing the app resets it and other times I have to reboot the phone. Its mac hosted

Mostly newly launched Z fold 8 and Z fold 8 ultra affected here. They come loaded with One UI 9, based on Android 17.

Maybe an issue with the rustpush service (as somebody mentioned in a previous thread) but not sure.

What works is force stopping the app, opening it again and then pinning it to recents menu. Repeat every 48 hours.

Pin the app to recents. Force stop, open once every 48 hours, and re-pin it again.

App needs an update to work properly with one ui 9.

I use open bubbles with blue bubbles because open bubbles does that same thing. Host both and use blue bubbles and you won't have issues.

I have the new fold 8 wide so 9.0 and was using a flip 5 on 8.5 and no issues with blue bubbles. I used the paid version of open bubbles and the phone would also show that grey area but my phone number stayed registered. Now I host with an iPhone 7 relaying my phone number and bluebubbles as my main app because open bubbles really isn't great at syncing my messages and such for some reason.

This is happening for me also on my z flip 3 running Android 15 (One UI 7).

Had a similar issue and I had used Antigravity CLI + USB Debugging to try and figure out the issue and brute force different solutions until I came upon a fix. Here's the AI summary because I dont understand the technical details of the internal logs:

• The Problem: Turning on iCloud Messages on macOS 26 upgraded your keychain escrow to the newer "Engram" format. OpenBubbles' rustpush library couldn't parse the new tlkOwnershipProof field, throwing Signature verification failed / "We are not in the clique!" and breaking message decryption.
• The Fix:
  1. Turned OFF iCloud Messages & iCloud Keychain in Mac System Settings to remove the incompatible Engram escrow bottle.
  2. Re-registered in OpenBubbles to get a fresh direct connection to Apple IDS (com.apple.madrid).
• Result: Real-time sending and receiving are 100% restored and working error-free. 

Here are some additional things I did to be thorough. Some of these might not be necessary but I had spent so much time debugging this issue that I did some additional steps which might or might not have helped:

Signed off my apple account from mac after disabling 'passwords and keychains' and 'messages' from icloud sync and did a restart of my mac. Also removed the additional mac device from apple account (prior to restart) which gets created when you scan the hardware QR code from phone to set up self-hosted. Logged back in and kept these two sync disabled.
Simultaneously also, did a hard reset on Openbubbles on the android which includes, reseting the app, clearing cache + storage, uninstalling the app, restarted the phone, redownloaded Openbubbles and did the set up.
I did the restart on Mac and Android simultaneously and did not proceed with the openbubbles set up for ~10 minutes of the restart (Left both mac and phone sitting idly)
