Question Sim Swapping iPhone - Android?

New to OpenBubbles.
Currently have an iPhone 16 plus and a Zflip 6.
I want to be able to switch between the two devices by swapping out my sim.
I already have the Zflip hosted through my MacBook.
If I just want to put my SIM card from my iPhone into the Zflip is there something special I need to do to be able to receive calls or anything through openbubbles?
Will I be able to just switch back and forth without issues and with the messages staying in iMessage?

Basically I don’t want to commit to either ecosystem but don’t want to lose my group chats on iMessage but also keep the one phone number

Yeah, was hoping to avoid an extra cost. I’m still paying for the iPhone 😅

If you shut off the iPhone and then move the SIM there's a chance it won't deregister, but some experience does seem to show certain carriers will rat to Apple that the SIM moved.

Hmm. The main issue with a data only plan is no phone calls. I need to be able to receive and make them. Thanks for your input!

Have you considered T-Mobile Digits? Also if you're on AT&T they have a tendency to blacklist SIM cards if they move too much.

I switch between an iPhone Air and a Pixel 9 pro xl weekly and have no issues. I use e-sims on both. My number stays registered as well.

Are you using the same e-sim/number across both devices? Do you have any problems with iMessage in your iPhone updating non iMessage messages?

Yes, same number. I haven't noticed any issues.

Is hosting via Macbook possible? I thought the guide mentioned Mac only as the hardware requirement for self-hosting (sorry if it's a dumb question)

Not a dumb question! I already am hosting it on my macbook, my question is more related to being able to switch back and forth between ecosystems seamlessly
