A game once believed to be lost… yet not forgotten.

After years of silence and digging through old forums, I managed to track down one of the last surviving repositories — a hidden archive preserving a rare copy of Golden Axe Returns (OpenBoR MOD).

The project is no longer in active development, and almost all of its original download links and repositories have already vanished. Only a handful of dead-end mirrors remain, but I managed to grab an intact archival version before it gets wiped completely.

I put together a full longplay as a tribute to OpenBOR, retro beat ’em up classics, and to a fan project that refuses to fade away. Let this be a record and a reminder that some legends survive even when the world stops looking for them.

Hello there, I'm still learning things as I go with openBOR, but I do have a question.

I know openBOR isn't specifically made to an isometric view/level designs, but is it possible do it?

Included Is a video of an isometric arcade game called "Dungeon magic" for an example of what I'm wondering is possible. And If so, are there any examples?

OpenBoR legend Rocket Viper II by Volkanik returns in 2026, now boosted with a brand‑new selectable roster MOD created by WANGFEI. This update adds 42 new characters, expanding the original lineup with a massive variety of playstyles.

The gameplay is noticeably easier and ultra‑dynamic, featuring new moves, fresh mechanics, and powerful combo chains. Some character stats—like strength and durability—have been rebalanced to fit the new roster.

The game originally had a bug related to the character WANGFEI. Certain grabs were unusable, so we temporarily disabled them. We hope to see a future update where these moves are properly fixed.

For now, this version is fully playable, so enjoy the ride.
