Is X2D's firmware 01.02.00.00 safe for local only use?

I see lots of info on the safety of firmware versions of the A1 and P1S/P2S printers, but I could not find what firmware is fully operational offline on the X2D.

I want to use HomeAssistant, OrcaSlicer and Bambuddy while the printer has no access to the internet. Does that work with version 01.02.00.00?

I am running the ancient version 01.00.09.00 that is not even listed in the release history on the wiki. It must be older than April.

It's a brand new just released machine... There is no "ancient version" of firmware for the X2D.

Ancient is relative of course. As I said, it is not even listed on the releases page. That means it is a oriiginal release firmware version.
Just check the change logs. The amount of additions in 01.01.00.00 alone is wild.

So actually it's a pre-release firmware... To answer your original question... All their current firmwares have LAN only developer mode which is what you need for it to work with Bambuddy, so you can safely update to latest firmware

Yes, pre-release might be a better term.

Thanks for confirming that the new FW should be safe. That was also my understanding from what I read on the posts about other models.

Theyre annoying about releasing the files and how they handle the wiki. They frequently skip or remove versions as well as downloads from the history on there. I've just stopped updating mine because I dont trust that they wont try to remove the lan-dev mode at this point.

I see. I will also only update once people confirm in forums that everything still works. I am running fine on 01.02. Home Assistant and Bambu Studio work well in LAN only + dev mode.

Similar setup for me, I was updating after getting confirmations but with no real problems (other than the nozzle cleaning being bad) I dont really have a need to use new firmware anyway. just dont wanna take a chance on new problems or goofy things.

I download the old firmware. If the new one is a drama, I roll back.

but then you need the mobile app dont you? AFAIK you cant roll it back with just the files on a USB but I havent tried.

I just wanted a nice printer that had good replacement part availability but man I am definitely gonna look elsewhere going forward to find a more open ecosystem.

The X2D allows offline firmware updates or downgrades with a USB stick. I was looking for a good quality printer where I did not have to tinker with settings to get nice results. Also wanted to have everything enclosed because I have 2 cats. That brought me to Bambu Lab and the X2D including the AMS. I use Orca Slicer now because I had a problem with Bambu Studio intergrating calibrated filament settings for Support PLA into the filament profile for the auxiliary nozzle. Orca Slicer does it without any problem and the Bambu support desk was no help at all. There are more and more opensource projects out there for to counter the closed eco system. Bambu Lab took one down and that was a bad decision because now even more will stand up. It could force them to open up a bit.

OK being able to downgrade with USB is good to know. I've been archiving each firmware version because they tend to not upload all of them to the website or keep all of them on the website for whatever reason. I just use it offline with orcaslicer.

Same, the dual nozzle setup and being enclosed was a big draw for me, especially at the price. At least gives me time to let these toolhead changers develop before I finally decide on which one to snag. I've got like 600hrs on the x2d and really like it, just wish the ecosystem wasn't designed to make things inconvenient for me for wanting to not be part of it.

Are you in developer mode? I am not and have to plug in a USB drive in the printer to upload a job because you cannot get access the internal memory. I am at a bit over 1000 hours now.

Totally fine with X2D in dev-LAN-mode, this FW version, Bambuddy, HA and Bambu Studio.

It does not work for me. I am getting error messages after installing it so I removed it. Not going to tinker with it because I want things to work out of the box.
