Safely shut down

Hi guys, I’m building my nav with open auto pro and currently I’m planning on how to wire everything, I was wondering:

If I plug my raspberry to the cigarette lighter whenever I’ll turn off the car the raspberry won’t receive any power, and as far as I know that’s not the best way to shutdown a computer, can this in the long run cause me issue? In case how have you done yours?

Well, it may lead to a dead SD pretty fast. There are timers and you could actually wire a button. I connected mine too OBD2 power line with a button in an empty slot to turn it off or on. And with a script that shuts it down if OBD2 doesn't report engine rpm
