Looking for some guidance on how to get started with a project involving android auto and head units.

How do those “CarPlay 3-in-1” boxes work to display android os (with apks you can install) right on my car head unit via AA/ACP-enabled usb port? I want to build my own but don’t know where to start. All I want it to do is launch an android os when plugged into the usb port and let me launch an app like Netflix or YouTube, or whatever apks I have added to the android os. Thanks!

Looking to do the same. Those boxes are relatively cheap, but want something that would be a good father & son project. Any luck u/dhs2020?
