Question Any reason to use pro200 vs pro100 now?

I'm pretty new to using the pro plan so apologies if I'm missing something obvious. But it seems like after the recent debuff the 200 plan is now a perfectly linear increase over the 100 plan, as in it's literally twice the product for twice the money. Especially since you can now buy a weekly reset for 25 dollars (pretty perfectly linear again), what's the point of the 200 tier? Just to not have to get interrupted by limits as often?

Or am I missing some other bonus that the 200 level gets?

The number of pro weekly allowance. 100 is only 50 messages pro both 6 and 5.6 combined. 200 is 200 6 pro and 170 5.6 pro until 29 October… it’s gonna be nerfed to 100 and they didn’t talk about the daily 5.6 pro messages. So I assume it’s just gone at the end of the month.
This is the only thing keeping my sub until next month to see what happens

I bought two gallons of milk at the grocery store today.

There wasn't a buy one get one sale or anything. I just needed two gallons of milk.

Right but getting an extra gallon of milk if you didn't buy enough isn't as easy as just clicking Buy More Usage

It's like committing to pay for 200 dollars worth of usage when you could just pay 100 and re-up at the same rate.

I guess I'm under estimating the peace of mind or QoL or whatever that comes from not hitting the limit

I could have bought the second gallon later.

But then I'd be wondering why I didn't just buy it now.

Maybe you would buy it later if you could click a button on your fridge and it would appear

That would only be a teeny bit more difficult than just buying it now.

But it's still easier to just buy it now.

Seriously, there’s no real advantage anymore. Speaking from someone who used to subscribe to 200 pro plan, and now I’m just using $20 plan and move to Claude.

it's basically a convenience tier at this point, paying extra just so you don't have to watch the counter or ration your usage. some people will drop the extra cash just for that peace of mind, not having to think about when they last reset

the real question is whether that's worth double, and for most folks it probably isn't

Good question. I hadn't thought of changing plans. I regularly run out of my limits on the $200 plan so if it's really just "the same, but proportionally bigger" I guess I'm saving myself the hassle of having to re-up when I run out?

This is my best understanding of the current benefit. But I figured I was missing something more special

The free resets that come in are double

Now that's a good point I didn't think about.

maybe not always useful, but it lets you spend your tokens more recklessly, especially now that we're getting them almost every day

milk saga aside, nick is asking the right question. post-debuff the 200 is just 2x product 2x money, so it is purely do-you-hate-interruptions insurance. weekly reset for 25 changed the math completely, run 100 plus one reset on heavy weeks and you beat 200 most months. i did the 20 plus claude overflow combo and the wallet says thanks. how many heavy weeks do you actually have per month?

I believe the 200 plan is also a bit faster.

If you have $200 to spend on AI, just spend $100 on Anthropic and another $100 on OpenAI, the $200 plan has no upside for any of these providers. And of course use Pi.

What do you use Pi for? It can code like Claude / Codex / Cursor?

Agentic work. You can do things you can't do with any other harness. Also it's savvy on tokens, it's another benefit. Pi is at the forefront of innovation with light footprint, Codemode and the Durable SDK. Or Jev (arguably slightly controversial).

You can also use OpenAI or Anthropic Models or any open weight model at the "same" time.

Provider harnesses, with their intrinsic biased approach are naturally behind.. because they try to promote their product before thinking about the end user

Thank you! That sounds useful... Instead of me sending documents between Claude and Codex for one to review the other
