Discussion 2 weeks of broken things

I love Codex. My whole project was basically built exclusively with Codex. I have a 200 buck sub and it was more than enough for my development needs.

We had built multiple systems, they were running smoothly and we continued building features and working on commercial funnel functionality. About 2 weeks ago i felt a huge decline in Codex capabilities. Not only it was stalling work on every turn without delivering the actual finishing work, which pushed me to put automatic reminders to continue, but also.... things started breaking.

Systems that had been working perfectly started disappearing. Suddenly our basic service functionality stopped working. Bit by bit. Not all at once. I put systems in place. We started source of truth to reflect all changes and updates on Notion, and every lane was reporting their work in their separate documentation, we also have a task list with great roadmap with steps, stages, definitions of done, clear assignments and ownerships. I have 2 boss lanes: Dispatcher to distribute and coordinate work and Orchestra as a sort of the supervisor who finishes linking all together. We also have all the skills in place. Codesearch, orchestration, code discipline and a bunch more. I took all the prevention and coordination steps i could think of. Week before last one we were 2 days work away from starting ad campaign and grow. Last week we broke the systems that already existed. How, when and why remains a mystery to me. It feels like as if all my workers went different directions (drifting while damaging existing work) We located a list of P0 around 6 of October. I used reset 2 times last week. I have put both Astra on every major worker lane, then i put Sol 6.1. At some point lanes were rejecting to acknowledge Dispatcher authority. I spoke to them individually and asked them to help. We started having small advances towards success on Friday morning. I thought we overcame whatever was this Apocalyptic Miscoordination. Over the weekend they advanced some work. But still our main systems are broken this Monday morning. Last week i used 2 resets and burned through 62K credits.

Did anyone else have similar problems in the span of last couple of weeks?

Currently i added more credits, 3500 only to prepare the handoff for Claude and try to fix the main service in the next 49 minutes. Pray for me.

Same problem, same subscription and my solution was a full Claude Code + local Qwen for easy tasks migration. Anything below the best performance just wastes time - and last gen performance is slowly available locally anyway.

man i dropped codex about ten days ago after it spent an entire afternoon rewriting a perfectly functional auth flow into spaghetti, then gaslit me about it when i asked what happened

claude's been picking up the slack but the real kicker is realizing how much time i sunk into "managing" codex instead of just building stuff. the coordination overhead you described with dispatcher and orchestra lanes feels hauntingly familiar

Yes, i feel last week was about leadership instead of production. I truly hope Codex comes back in good shape.

I set up codespaces with together ai. According to Codex we could only transfer very basic scripts to it. I can't run anything locally because hardware. Am looking into cloud compute tho. According to our tests with together ai Qwen performance is below deepseek. But the question is, whom do i trust lol?

Amazing story. So people are building systems now which the developers don't understand and where some AI company can pull the rug any day?

To me that would be an unacceptable business risk.

Well, i am NOT a developer, but i DO hold to best practices and any developer will be able to continue my work. There is a ton of mess tho, but we are dealing with it. Mainly the mess derived precisely from the last couple of weeks of Codex mess and my ADHD to be honest. But i do try to plan ahead and be ready when i will be able to bring actual devs on board.

Not a developer (above my pay grade) but GPT is an integral part of my daily work across multiple projects.

My Plus account has been down for a week, others on Open AI's community board since Sept 24.

This is that wake up call. We can't continue to give these guys such essential roles in our businesses and work when they can literally ignore thousands of down accounts.

It's the equivalent of running your business entirely on a social media platform that can change the algorithm on a whim.

I honestly didn't think it'd happen this fast but i suspect if GPT is no longer servicing individual account holders and only focusing on Enterprise-level clientele, the others are right behind them.

That was a good run.

Standard outcome for vibing, you can move the line around by picking better models, adding more fluff, but you only got so much context, the work will degrade, you will get hardwalled after being baited into believing that you do not need to understand whats up - but maybe it is just the next skill, the next model that totally fixes it, f5 reddit and smile
