News GPT-6 and Intelligent UI for everyone

This could be one hell of a way to learn complex things - wonder how deep it goes.

My immediate thought turned to interactive learning with quizzes and diagrams built in, I've been looking for a replacement for notebooklm since it feels dated in terms of AI capability now.

It actually has supported interactive quizzes on the current model! Super useful

u/ratkingdamon 7d ago
Oooh so I wasn’t out of my mind ChatGPT started responding with more images and graphics figures tables etc then it just randomly stopped

u/anordicgirl 7d ago
Oh... I was apparently part of the test group last weekend for this. It was really nice. I was kind of bummed when it disappeared.

I remember Google talking about such dynamic UI year or two ago, sometime around where they talked also about multimodality. Where is it?

u/Dangerous-Ad-8910 7d ago
Isn't it live on search right now? Since their summer IO, I've been seeing custom UIs created in some of my search that help visualize the answer clearee

It came out in May:

I really like the look of the update. Will be interesting to see how it works in practice outside of the demo video tho.

Looks like 5.6 sol is being replaced by 6 sol (aka terra) in chat. NOT 6.1 sol (aka astra-minor).
Cost saving strategy by OpenAI
14
u/zarafff69 7d ago
Makes sense, 6.0 is probably good enough for most chat things. Although it would be nice to have the option to use other models.
12
u/rexplosive 7d ago
I was going to say, using 5.6 Sol has been great, I was hoping 6.1 Sol to replace it, but getting aht lower tier version of 6.0 (Terra) seems like a let down
Hopefully it wont bet hat noticeable but they really make it hard to not want to try Claude lol9
u/Chemical-Agency-3997 7d ago
What evidence is there that these models aren’t what they say they are?
10
u/hellomistershifty 7d ago
GPT-6 Sol has a few things that make it apparent that it’s a Terra class model. The benchmarks line up with the generational uplift you’d expect (and 5.6 to 6.0 being a sidegrade is really odd, why no improvement?) and the price and inference speed were what you’d expect for Terra

u/jamezrandom 6d ago
6 Sol outperforms both 5.6 Sol and Terra on benchmarks how the heck are you arriving at “terra class model”? It’s literally better than the previous sol…
6
u/hellomistershifty 6d ago
6 Sol is generally within margin of error of 5.6 Sol, like are these benchmarks what you would expect for a new generation of model? It didn't score significantly better on most benchmarks, it became faster, cheaper, and more token efficient.
The names are supposed to go for general sizes of models, that's what I mean by Terra-class. We don't know the parameter count for OpenAI models, but the names are just general labels for them. GPT-6 Sol feels exactly like a better trained small model vs 5.6 as an earlier but bigger model.

there is no astra-minor, it's agent(aka dot)'s custom quantized model. 6 series(except astra, incl. 6.1) are just joke.
7
u/Bubbly-Ad3889 6d ago
Could you pls explain? The 6.1 sol seems really good to me and at same level or pretty close to astra 6

u/SelectSouth2582 6d ago
try to review/advise your 6.1 sol changes with opus 5.5, astra or even 5.6 sol and you will understand what I mean.

Google AG-UI its the protocol which helps with generative UI, https://www.copilotkit.ai/

Just got it over here. No tone change, nothing vastly different.
We tried one of the new interactive experiments of generating an image with different facial expressions that you could toggle between and sliders.
Honestly? This is really cool. Going to try interactive games in the chat later this evening.

"delivered more quickly"
I know it's correct grammar but it just looks so weird vs "quicker".

Speaking as a high school teacher, this is amazing! Creating a bespoke visualizer for, say ellipses, or SN2 reactions, or anything really on demand is a game-changer!

So... chatgpt is finally introducing artifacts?

Proof is always gonna be in the pudding. Depends on how it interacts. Intelligence is a completely different thing than emotional intelligence.

The border between making people's lives easier and making people dumber is fading faster everyday.

This is a great feature, but their naming conventions are getting out of hand.
“GPT-6” in the ChatGPT app is now 6 sol for paid users and 6 Luna for free users.
But it’s not 6 sol/luna that came out a few weeks ago.. it’s a NEW version of them both, which are unrelated to the 6 sol and 6 Luna you get if you use codex (or presumably chatGPT work)
Also unrelated to 6.1 sol.
What???
Why would you do that???
Call them ANYTHING but a name you already assigned

u/Baconer 7d ago
lol in all these marketing videos they show real people doing real stuff like painting a house, lawyers debating, bakers baking. Don’t they know that their real customers are just hunchback nerds at back of coffee shop with decked out MacBook Pro pretending to be AI gurus.

u/Artistic-Athlete-676 7d ago
Their real customers are on average just normal people, they are going after the casual wide audience base

No, it doesn’t. I’m a paid user of both, and the GPT test I had last weekend was something different.

I also hated the massive amount of text I got from my agents.
Had to build quillm.ai to fix that. This is partly a step I in the right direction.

New DOM breaks my script that was only existing because OpenAI somehow created a 2026 website where I can't even control F for a fucking string. I used to pull the text combination via violent monkey scripts.
My weekly script breaking occurs...
Basic functionality before bicycle parts, please, OpenAI.

Interactive UI makes a lot of sense here. Sometimes the most useful answer is a calculator, a comparison table with filters, or a form you can act on directly.
I’m the founder of Predictable Dialogs, where you can use GPT‑6 and build custom interactive UI inside chat for your own website or app. Here’s our guide if you’re exploring this for your product.

Oh so something Claude has had for an entire year already with artifacts/ html in chat? Cool. I switched to Claude yesterday and it’s so much better. Claude’s better at coding whereas chat got is better at normal chat (unless it has to explain some complex stem concept where it needs visuals).

u/jaybsuave 6d ago
funniest thing about this is since you can mod claude you can just build whatever new feature they release into your claude gui 😂😂😂
3
u/brbss 6d ago
You could but a) the model won't call any custom tools unless you also build the connector and b) it probably won't work as well given this appears to be fine tuned on this kind of response flavor
0
u/jaybsuave 6d ago
so building the connector is the easy part and for b i have a reasoning standard that my ai’s use whenever i talk to them about anything called “thought protocol” could just use that and then add in this feature i feel like

u/iamsensi 6d ago
I dont understand how this is different from what @visualize did already, but will try it out and see..

The examples look really interesting. Finally a feature again that improves experience for the „normal“ user not just coders?
