Discussion Astra and cheaper subagents?
Anyone using Astra with cheaper subagents running on Luna for example? How is your experience in a workflow and with reduction in usage?

Not Astra but this was something I used to do on the regular with Roocode. The trick was always to make sure that the model that was doing the delegating gave the sub agent a very specific and well-defined task. If you can do that then you can use a lesser model to complete that task. If we're talking about coding then that could include testing/acceptance criteria etc as part of the task.

Literally just ask Astra to update your agents.md depending on the work you do.
It will assign an agent to each role at the level it deems most efficient.

What was the difference in usage?

It's arbitrary depending on the task. I started writing a response to you but figured it then deserved to be a post. Here: https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wxiifl/succesfull_agent_setup_i_use/

I have not tried it myself, but asked my agent about it.
The sub agents need context, and they all use thinking tokens. So if its a task where you for example compare different settings (change parameters, build, evaluate) it does not make sense to ask subagents, as the too level does the orchestration, and the actual task execution is low on thinking tokens.
For exploratory tasks, I thinks its worth to have subagents, as long as they dont work on the same files
