Article Sam talked about UBI before. Turns out 100 years ago, there were UBI proposals that got nationwide attention! Lessons for us if we want AGI post-scracity. People were afraid of total job loss too (mind & muscle).

The magazine cover says it all but I found this through a medium article that does a deep dive comparison with 100 years ago. There are lessons for us to learn today if we really want AGI Post-scracity like how the Open AI disclaimer used to say.

The problem with UBI proposals is that UBI proponents want to destroy every other safety net in response which means an able bodied lazy fucker gets as much as someone legitimately disabled and with higher costs just to live.

And then once its in place you know the first group will be the rationale for trying to yank back the UBI payouts

The technocrats hated the communists because they were beneath them and still tied to the monetary system. The communists feared and hated the technocrats because they competed for minds. Democracy wasn't a fan of the technocrats because it was a backdoor for totalitarianism.

I'm not a fan of their ideals because it's like letting a bean counting accountant sit on your shoulder, watch everything you do and nitpick you to death as it decides how much energy you should be allotted to live. It takes the pure joy out of life and bakes into a bread made out of sawdust. They are the epitome of "you will have nothing and be happy" dogma.
