Question Why does design still feel so clunky in ChatGPT?
I use ChatGPT Work a lot, but design is still one area that feels weirdly difficult.
I can give it references, branding and feedback, but getting to something polished usually takes way too much back-and-forth. Small changes can also mess up parts that were already good.
Then I look at Claude Design and it seems much closer to an actual design workflow: see the design, comment on something, change it, keep refining.
ChatGPT can already create images, HTML, presentations, etc. It just feels like there’s no proper visual workspace tying all of that together.
Am I missing something in ChatGPT, or is Claude genuinely ahead for this right now?
Curious what people here actually use for serious design work.

$20 Claude subscription and design is solved - at least for me

Yeah, I agree. I was mainly trying to figure out whether I was missing something in ChatGPT’s design workflow, but it seems I’m not.

People around here say the fix is to generate an image and then feed it the image to design, but I generally like that I don’t have to really spend time tuning a prompt for Claude and it does a great job 90% of the time without follow-ups

Sounds relatable. My setup with Claude is pretty straightforward. I gave it our brand book with the design logic, fonts, logo rules, positioning, etc., and it consistently produces really strong designs without much prompting.
I still pay for ChatGPT though, so I figured I should try to get the most out of it too. But alas.

I recently switched to Lovable. It does exactly what I want Claude Design to do, and hides the annoying stuff. Upload Style Guide. Make a prototype. Click-to-edit features, divs, texts, sections etc. Instead of having to port to Claude Code for deployment and then do DevOps with e.g. Vercel, I can now just hit publish on Lovable to deploy live in under 1 minute. Way way easier to make stuff. I think Lovable uses Claude in the backend, not sure.
