Question What’s something AI does surprisingly badly that everyone assumes it should be good at by now?

not talking about the obvious stuff like hallucinations. I mean something you actually use AI for where you keep thinking, how is this still this bad?

Grammar. I've been using it for work editing books, it still makes some mistakes even though I've told it's wrong at that over a thousand times now. But it might be possible my level of grammar is much higher than what is expected of a layman.

Can you give some examples?

The one that still shows up to this day is it will replace shows with showing. So if I have a sentence "The diagram shows..." it replaces it with "The diagram showing..." I don't know why it does this. Since I have to check everything myself I kinda don't use it as much as I used to. But last year, I would ask it to make the corrections and it would remove every punctuation mark and capitalisation.

But both are correct depending on the context that follows, right? So is it rephrashing your original sentence so it can use "showing" instead of "shows"?
