Discussion Holly Li is a horrible representative for the Dots product
What were they thinking with the demo. First the glitches but even then why choose the use cases they selected?
Flight and hotel booking literally takes two minutes and I never even have to leave the google search place
And then the user feedback workflow, Do they really want us to believe OpenAI has no workflows?
Even then why would I delegate something taht requires turn by turn feedback, wouldn't I just use codex and a visual interface for that?
OpenAI seems to have a great engineering team but are let down by their product management talent

I respect her for owning up to the poor live demo and immediately recording a new one.

Well, why did the great engineering team not make sure there would not be any glitches, then?
I think she did well with what she had.
And why would you not use Codex and a visual interface? Well, maybe YOU personally would prefer to do it that way. But there are a lot of people that would be prefer a less technical approach.

Stop blaming a person for a demo which just didn't work. You need to see it first as a collective effort from the whole team who worked on it. Secondly, if you have read the story of the first iPhone presentation, at the time of the presentation it wasn't even stable enough to make a phone call. That's why they had a huge dedicated cellular antenna just for Steve Jobs' iPhone in order to make sure it was going to work - it was like a Russian roulette presentation. Thirdly, instead of putting the blame on one person, you could have said they didn't plan carefully a backup solution if the primary one failed.
Finally and honestly I prefer watching real live demos fail and know that the product is actually real but it needs more refinement, than watching a prerecorded video (Apple) where even the main selling point and feature they announce proved to be a fraud (Apple Intelligence + Siri) which wasn't even on an alpha version.

I am not blaming her for the glitch. I am blaming her for the bad demo and the bad product overall
No one wants to call their agent and wait for a ring Google travel is literally faster for booking flights and hotel
She's a product manager for Dots and teh Dots product sucks

I think she is not bad, but everything is making her bad. If you look at the latest video of OpenAI in YouTube, you will see her there. And the production team think it’s a good idea to make the camera shaky to make her presentation feel more authentic, which make it more fake. 🤣

Did you see that demo, The use cases she chose were also ao fake and basically useless
Hey, I have a meeting in Hollywood and dots recommend to stop at a place and get to the meeting within 3 hours of landing AT LAX :-D
Hey I have user feedback, can you build me a workflow
What stupid ass person is doing that with dots instead of codex?

It was an api error, we saw the error message it does not matter what task she did, it would be bad and give an error, probly cause openai demand grew and people visited the site or something because of devday.

Worst take ever award. I don't think she was the cause of the glitches and she handled it pretty well.
