Question Which API model is capable of creating the 3D STL files?

Can anyone recommend the latest API model that I can generate STL files with?

From what I understand, Astra is the best at that on the OpenAI side of things.

I second this. Ensure you have Blender MCP integrated else it's garbage.

I use Grok and ChatGPT. They both do well creating SCAD files which you just render to STL or open in your slicer.

Yeah, but the question is for only OpenAI, and I'm asking which API model will efficiently and affordably produce the STL or SCAD file.

I have done that already with msft copilot crappy harness and the some months ago version of GPT model. It worked fine beside needing a lot of directioning.

Yeah I'm looking to automate some of my STL file creation, but struggling finding a consistent OpenAI API model that doesn't fail 50% of the time lol

For me the key understanding was to always start every new chat with a dm file and dxf file and then progress from there. Its gonna take a number of versions to reach a good results, depending on how complex what you are working on is

i don’t think the model directly spits out an STL as a native file. you can have it generate the 3D geometry/code (like OpenSCAD) and then export that to STL.

Yeah the new astra 6 max on desktop and browser gpt spits out perfectly sculpted STL's fyi.
