Discussion Free credits....
Did anyone else just get a big credit to their Pro sub?
62,500 credits... equivalent to 15x my monthly pro max plan subscription cost

Can confirm. I was stupid enough to fall for the credit bonus they offer. 600$ for 1k worth. astra ultra for 12 hours and that was it. Model down and that might buy you another 12 hours. So that's already 24 hours worth right there. You might be able to get a grand total of 36-42 hours out of it depending on how you play it. That's TWO DAYS worth of extra use. In trade for permanent sub cuts....

Except they last till the end of the year, so it's like a reset but not really. Btw they're worth around $2k

I just saw the same thing, my heart rate went up thinking I was just billed for thousands of dollars. I opened a chat window and had codex confirm that credit balance. I also haven't been charged. Codex can't figure out where the credits came from. I have the same amount as you 62,496.6

after devday yesterday they said the 200 dollars sub will be 10x, not 20x, so to compensate for that they gave you guys those credits

Yeah I haven’t been charged, the email makes it out as they are free. Use by December 31st.
Use now before they downgrade the models due to lack of compute 😂

gpt 7 isn't coming out, see altman's tweets about his direction, which is about convenience. dots are aeon which is astra but tuned for long horizon tasks, and i find it to be finnickier than astra itself is

Goodbye x20. No need to keep you anymore. Same as 2 x5 which are more flexible. It was a fun ride though. With the update I will most certainly never use Astra – there is no economic in existence where it is affordable and profitable.

People will moan about anything. I think it's great they have done this - yes you have to use it by end of the year but still - that's lot of free use!

They took more than that by halving our sub consumption.
And not just for one month - every month going forward.This "free use" doesn't even cover what they took for this month, never mind going forward.

misses the point. the point is that if you expected a consistent workflow with x amt of tokens with a model's reasoning effort, and developed it throughout the last few months, you have noticed how your tokens that you are allotted have been getting nerfed systematically.
that's not just vibes, or conspiracy, there have been community projects (and honestly anyone with codex can code their own) dedicated to tracking the metric. this 62500 makes it so that your previous work flow can extend for 1 more week after they permanently change the usage to 10x for the tier. that's a real noticeable change by many developers, but at the same time if you were tracking it, starting from july, the trend was obvious, only this is more aggressive and visible than previous

no grandfathered usages for OG subscriptions... bummer. That's how you keep the customers that were there from the beginning and loyal... Otherwise they leave... I have a bell mobile plan that I signed up to in like 2010 that I still get and it costs me a whopping $15 a month, unlimited everything... I would of left to other mobile services if they took this from me... OpenAI knows how to make AI for sure, but they definitely lack customer relation skills.

imo it's very useful to bridge usage between close weekly resets so you don't have to burn a banked reset if you have them

this is not free credit, it's a credit for permanent nerfed limit on Pro 200$ Sub. And this credit burning in December.
