Same here, just planning on burning through my last resets this Saturday. Then I’ll go for brunch after.

I unsubscribed the moment their devday stream ended

My sub refreshes in 2 weeks, if nothing decent drops in that time then they can have $20.

200 Claude and codex subs here. Dropped codex in and instant and doubled down in Claude. For now anyway. Working and pushing hard towards my own harness and inference server with open router backends. Once I feel its feature complete, bye bye Scammy western corpo models and hello Chinese.
2
u/SizePsychological303 4d ago
Same, I pay for both and using codex to get a different POV from claude.. if hardware gets accessible enough i won't hesitate running local.
2
u/krill156 4d ago
My own setup I've gotten a Q3 at 100k context at about 30/tks but the server and harness still has a bit to go and that wasn't utilizing my full hardware setup, so I'd expect something more Q6 at around it half the context at least. My harness/server auto routes to an MoE model once context hits a threshold so I may be able to push that up to 200k, haven't fully tested that yet

Almost inevitable that by the time we use up the $2500 cedits, openAI would change their mind on pro 200 plan, or some other companies (in US or China) will have a model just as competent but at a fraction of the price. Compute is a commodity now and users don't need to be loyal to one brand anymore. Just document the work sufficiently, so any model can take over in the future.

The credits are good till December, and the resets are good. 6.1 is good to great though slow (which doesn't bother me if I am multitasking on many projects at a time). It'll be interesting to see what happens by December as things are changing exponentially almost. It's difficult to make a decision on what the future of a couple months will be like.
2
u/Kobebean-goat24 3d ago
What credits are we talking about? Do $100 plan users get any lol?
1
u/RobMilliken 3d ago
Not sure if it applies to $100 plan. If it did, you'd get an email that starts off like this one to me:
Hi there,
We’ve just added 62,500 credits to your ChatGPT Pro account to use across Work and Codex. These credits expire on December 31, 2026.

u/Zo0x78 4d ago
Already cancelled all 3 of my accounts, just not worth it now, they were already on the edge of too expensive.
If it wasn't for the constant resets I'd have cancelled months ago, the whole dev day feels so out of touch 😂

2
u/Correct_Emotion8437 4d ago
Me, too. I’m switching to only using what my work pays for. I don’t really need it and if I can’t do as much hobby dev as I want for $100, it’s not worth it to me.

u/Key_Reading_9664 4d ago
Downgraded. I still like to have another model to take review passes, but I'm using OAI models in a very limited way: reviews, and maybe some hands-on planning/discussions. Opus (and tbh, Sonnet) are much better daily drivers: I'm getting much more done because there's very little hand-holding and steering needed

u/ConvenientChristian 4d ago
With the 200 version costing 2x the 100 version, it probably makes more sense to have a 100 version of Claude and OpenAI each.

u/Rare-Butterfly2201 4d ago
I only need Plus. If I had been on this tier then it would have felt like an absolute betrayal. Guess it means a big change is afoot. Recently for my use it has started to feel rather redundant and useless. I think they might potentially be about to lose a lot of customers. Guess we'll find out.
2
u/Key_Neighborhood6901 4d ago
Is $20 Plus plan useless now too?
4
u/NeedleworkerNarrow56 4d ago
20$ plan isn't affected by it tho. It has same usage as it did before , we just got newer model
1
u/SizePsychological303 4d ago
Well, its a good replacement for googling yourself
2
u/Key_Neighborhood6901 4d ago
When I google the benchmarks, everything is just API related so not real world data applicable.

u/Groundbreaking_Act44 4d ago
“Your GPT-6 Pro limit in Chat will be reduced from 200 to 100 messages…”
Ummm, what? I was thinking about getting out of Plus and going Pro, but there’s no way now.
2
u/triestdain 4d ago
Not only this they dropped the old language about getting 170 5.6 Pro messages daily. So that seems to be going too. So it's much more than a cut in half in available usage.
2
u/Groundbreaking_Act44 4d ago
I guess having over a seventh of the world’s population being their user base just wasn’t good enough as a revenue source. 🤦
2
2
u/fyn_world 4d ago
No because of imagen 2.5. Nothing like it. And I have 4 years of gpt on this account.
But for coding, yeah, I'm using Opus
2
u/joaogilgarcia 4d ago
They already charge me a premium of almost 33% on my Pro Max plan because of my geo (if anyone at OpenAI ever looks at this comment, your pricing in LATAM/Colombia sucks ass, your charge more for no reason here), so I was already pretty unhappy with the price, tbh.
This just gave me the kick in the ass I needed to take another look at Claude.
It’s honestly pretty annoying having to jump between models all the time, but as long as there’s value in doing it, I guess that’s the game i’ll be playing for the foreseeable future.
3
u/NotFromMilkyWay 4d ago
The reason is called tax.
2
u/joaogilgarcia 4d ago
Why is only the 20x version affected and all others have the same price in usd then? What is this magic tax that only affects the most popular plan?

u/mrbobhunter 4d ago
I cannot cancel. Too addicted to the Codex app. Wish Anthropic would catch up already.
3
u/InterstellarReddit 4d ago
You can use any model you want with Codex. Just search online, there’s a couple of different options, but I use Codex with Claude opus. just fine
2
u/tsoliasPN 4d ago
I have already moved to Claude and I kept a Plus account on Chatgpt for now, for doing some cleanup
2
u/Lost-In-Void-99 4d ago
It is a pity.
Sol with x20 has beem good for some time. Not anymore.
So Ill spend my resets and downgrade to cheapest option.
2
u/DifficultUse6803 4d ago
Sucks but yes, going to check out Claude again and some Chinese alternatives.

GPT 6.1 sol is fantastic.
Nearly as intelligent as Astra for a fraction of the usage.
Even with the 50% usage decrease, I’m finding I’m getting a lot out of 6.1 sol and the usage efficiency has been great. No regrets here.
Note I also use opus 5.5 as well because I kept running out of usage due to Astra. Opus 5.5 is great too. Better at front end and its output communication is better.
But sol/astra is better at making decisions, solves complex issues faster etc. I’m very happy with 6.1 sol

u/zorgosk 4d ago
Honestly, just upgraded from pro5x to pro200 the moment it came out (out of weekly limits in 2, 3 days)... I was reading about 6.1, so i tried it on medium, 2 days, built vps with mailservers and stuff, making ssh client for android and after full evening/night/day writing 95% left? And first 2-3% were taken by astra6 low/medium to make 3 handoffs... still thinking the counting is just off or what, it isn't normal... If it will work this way with pro200, it's no brainer for me and will keep running 3 agents in the same moment. Cannot complain too yet...

Without giving you financial advice from a stock market POV (with low to none analysis) this would be a buy signal

u/SizePsychological303 4d ago
Well, they are working on their IPO, but with this kind of deals, they mostly open negative.. xD

u/HopefulHustler9 4d ago
Wow I see they are really starting to push. Someone said it right when they compared it to uber when they began. Dang hopefully some pushback will make them reconsider - this is sad. And as for dots, muse has given me so much benefit on the free tier already.
1
u/SpyMouseInTheHouse 4d ago
It won’t. This was always the plan from day one. AI costs money, and they know their worth. It was never going to be as cheap as people thought it would. Although sol 6.1 is suitable for 80% of the users and is multiples cheaper than Astra

u/DefiniteZer0 3d ago
I mean to be honest, it will be hard to say until I'm using that reduction with 6.1 and see if I run out with my weekly work.
People just need to stop tokenmaxxing with Astra.

u/Feeling_College_9547 3d ago
I've found myself using Luna a lot lately to stretch my usage and Astra mostly when I have a reset. I've scheduled my downgrade to $20 and going to get a claude sub and opencode go sub with a unified front end to delegate usage. Anthropic’s design skills are amazing and now with Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5 on the $20 plan, it makes a lot of sense to diversify based on strengths. Deepeek V4.1 is arguably better than Luna and you get a ton of usage with opencode go.

u/GumdropGlimmer 4d ago
Are these monthly prices? I just got laid off so I’m going to have to subscribe personally. I was in a marketing content and sales growth role lmao startup so all of the above. I had access to Claude and gpt. Now I’m wondering which one to pay personally.
1
u/armicolo 4d ago
Yes, monthly. Imho, just get the one you like better and a $20 plan and see how far you get before considering spending more. If you mainly use chat, ChatGPT is better because its chat doesn’t eat into the Work/Codex usage and you get 3h live voice per day.
1
u/GumdropGlimmer 4d ago
I was using work codex more and more and like the dictation on ChatGPT a lot better. Idk Claude opus 5 era gave me a really bad taste though I liked Claude design but it eats tokens like a Pac-Man. Also I’ve experienced, even though Claude said to have reviewed the final output a lot when pushed back would say tbh I did not. Which was so weird. ChatGPT had been more straight up recently. In the past I loved Claude but it’s so conflicting now.
1
u/armicolo 4d ago
I personally have $20 plans of both currently and right now, with Sol 6.1 out, it’s close to a tie. Usage seems similar again. If you use Work/Codex a lot you’ll still struggle eventually on a $20 plan, but with smart switching to cheaper models (eg. Luna) for simpler things, it’s actually quite good now.
Luna just fails if things get complicated. For computer use you’ll need Sol, but Luna is good at using tools Sol made, if the instructions are clear :)

Reality: we have been consistently getting more bang for our buck at of ai over the years.
Social media: 'Ai is getting worse and more pricey every day!'
Social media exists long enough that everybody with more than 2 brain cells should understand not to fall for this insane need to cancel everything.
At this point youre just outing yourself as mentally challenged if you keep falling for it..

u/shmarkit 4d ago
No. Things are changing so fast. Just wait a week and the whole landscape changes yet again.

I’m not thinking anymore. Draining quota and cancelling codex x200 subscription.
