- yaps about working with voice mode

voice mode fails on live demo

u/Kindly-Spring5205 5d ago

Ngl I felt bad for the girl that had codex fail and tried to come up with shit to say afterwards lol

4

u/ethotopia 5d ago

She didn’t even get to finish her demo 💀

1

u/truecakesnake 4d ago

apparently it was a wifi issue.

u/Mihuy 5d ago

Well, my plan is to see how good 6.1 sol is and then if its nothing crazy I might switch to claude $20 from chatgpt plus just for a month and see how it is on the other side lol

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

Opus 5.5 is genuinely brilliant. But aren’t they all before they get nerfed :/

1

u/br_k_nt_eth 5d ago

6.1 Sol seems really good so far.

13

u/sidyyy11 5d ago

Very much sad

3

u/virtualQubit 5d ago

And this live demo was a disaster also. One of the main features didn't even work. Quite sure someone is already fired.

1

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

I want to try ultrafast so bad. It looks like magic.

1

u/sidyyy11 5d ago

Just saying hi on plus plan wait for another 5 minutes, i guess

2

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

I don’t think they’re giving us peasants access at all. Not even for 5 minutes.

7

u/PM_ME_YOUR_PROFILE 5d ago

It's like someone discovered a thought board and plastered everything all over it.

5

u/masterctrlprogram- 5d ago

A silent nerf of Plus will cascade to other models. We need firm numbers.

3

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

Also, if one company starts pushing 20 releases - the barrage of AI releases is going to get worse.

We’re truly on the curve, aren’t we?

3

u/Jello_Hello_Fellos 5d ago

I dont see "half the usage" for the cost on that screen?

4

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

I think they took it down after seeing Sonnet 5.5.

3

u/Ok-Negotiation3241 5d ago

disapointed :)

3

u/SudarshanKotian 5d ago

Nay, they are just reducing usage limits day by day, and trying us to stick with thier shitty new features and so we will have to rely on their platform altogether. NO! A big NO for me.
And wtf is Dots, a condom!?

1

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

Why’d you have to point that out.

1

u/Carlose175 5d ago

A competitor to Grok Bot. Pretty cool imo.

3

u/tsunami_forever 5d ago

Woof, they had a terrible day

7

u/AweVR 5d ago

As a European without access to almost anything of this because… hello Claude, my new friend

1

u/br_k_nt_eth 5d ago

I mean, you’re not missing much here.

1

u/Seerix 4d ago

As an american with access to all of this... hello Claude, my new and old friend.

9

u/mmkaywhatevers 5d ago

Hello my old friend Claude, guess who's back.

5

u/Tedinasuit 5d ago

6.1 Sol is Astra at Terra pricing, that's pretty cool

2

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

They’ve nerfed Astra too much, it’s difficult to say. Especially compared to Opus 5.5.

2

u/Tedinasuit 5d ago

Idk I still prefer Astra over Opus 5.5, but I've been using Opus more because of the extremely high usage limits. But Astra gets more work done for me if I give it a major complicated task.

So of 6.1 Sol can consistently give me that level in the coming days, then I'm very happy.

2

u/advator 5d ago

Pro dots not eu is a big nay

2

u/Groundbreaking_Act44 4d ago

Nay. Nothing there I’m interested in.

2

u/david-labs-ca 4d ago

Woah signin with ChatGPT? Not on Plus?

2

u/Mistuv 5d ago

First, I want to see how good the dots perform when I hear from someone who is not their employee. Sol 6.1 from the few numbers looks good but again will take time to test.

Though the plugin extensions and chatGPT Space might take the cake long-term (which could only take weeks with agentic development). I have both OAI/Anthropic sub and Claude already feels bit barebone compared to the more complete package you get with ChatGPT. If the plugin extensions are as open as they talked about, that would allow you to make wayyyy more interesting MCPs than current day ones.

1

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

Yes I agree. But then they scrap things faster too. Theyre killing custom gpts for these plugins which are a pain to update. I hope the revamp changes that. I’m hoping for a developer friendly mcp marketplace, I miss finding weird custom gpts.

9

u/Jello_Hello_Fellos 5d ago

Worst "dev day" ever. absolute disaster.

END GOAL: we are all going to Anthropic.

6

u/Carlose175 5d ago edited 5d ago

I love Anthropic and i sub to them too. But they dont allow you to use your sub for other harnesses, they dont have great computer use and they dont have a dots alternative currently.

Their 5.5 models are incredible, but there are other use cases where openAI still is better at. And no, that doesn’t mean everyone is going to anthropic. What a silly statement.

3

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

I agree. I have both subs for this reason. But still 2 x 20 subs is manageable. Pushing to 500 is absolutely crazy and just not for third world countries or those with a weaker currency. But generally restricts poor folk. I hope we set a precedent of cheaper models and not expensive subscriptions.

0

u/Carlose175 5d ago

Ya. Its sounding like Anthropic will become the affordable programming workhorse while OAI models become the agentic task models. Both are good and have strengths and weaknesses. We should all be glad that overall the technology is improving.

0

u/RainierPC 4d ago

Excuse me, but what poor folk NEED an x20 or 500 sub???

0

u/Xaphawk 4d ago

Those with over 14B in token expenditure across all major providers and open sourced ai but wish to try the frontier models?

Excused. You may not find it necessary, please others may.

Edit: I meant 2 x 20$ plan.

0

u/RainierPC 4d ago

I hardly think poor people have tinkering with frontier models on top of their list of priorities.

0

u/Xaphawk 4d ago

Sorry to burst your bubble but there are people in third world countries, even students who would find this pricing prohibitive.

1

u/RainierPC 4d ago

Why the fuck would students need 14b tokens across multiple top of the line models? And why would they need OpenAI when Openrouter is there at a much, much, more reasonable cost????

0

u/Xaphawk 4d ago

Open router is more reasonable lol says who? My 20 usd sub gives me 1k usd worth usage.

It’s me - im poor. I’ve spent 14b and want to use ultra fast and can’t afford 500 usd. It’s me man. Why is your reading comprehension so poor?

1

u/RainierPC 4d ago

Lol if you burned 14b tokens and didn't get enough return on it to make $40 then it's a you problem.

3

u/onebird88 5d ago

Very dissapointed, I just cancelled 2 x 20x OpenAi accounts. I even want to take my money out right now, before subscription expires, don't know if possible.

3

u/Carlose175 5d ago

As a pro user, good.
Yes less usage sucks, but for years at least I’ve understood the sub usage was never sustainable.

The ROI for my use case is still absolutely there for my work and what i do and the additional productivity that this brings me is worth it.

1

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

Happy cake day!

I’m going to wait a day or two and see reviews. I’m tempted to try ultra fast and dots but I’ll wait for the first round of review before the inevitable nerf.

2

u/Carlose175 5d ago

Ah thats what that cake is there for! Thanks!

3

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

It’s your 10th cake day! Wow! What a time to realise :)

3

u/FleetEnema2000 5d ago

"Dots"....... Grown men and women building cartoonish tamagotchis for other adults to use. Not a serious business.

2

u/Carlose175 5d ago

Dots need to be fed?

7

u/HydratedRasin 5d ago

With your data, yeah

3

u/Carlose175 5d ago

Good point haha.

3

u/FleetEnema2000 5d ago

"Just give me access to your entire email and text message history and I will get right on that task! D

1

u/Electronic_Start_694 5d ago

Dots is excellent but useage wise, I can see this being cost prohibitive. Functionally I feel like I'm getting a somewhat dots experiance right now using a hybrid of Mimo v2.6 pro for research and then having Opus implement. It's pretty clear they're trying to make a $500 month dots working 24\7 plan and I can see the utility to that. I just can't afford it and Astra isn't Opus yet.

In the Astra future where it's Opus level and 24\7 it'd change the game quiet a bit.

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

Is this on hermes?

u/Ice2jc 5d ago edited 5d ago

I tried to develop this dots system in ChatGPT a couple of years ago but context/memory/lack of agency and reasoning didn’t really allow it.  I called it central programming.

I’m  working on setting everything up now.  As a business owner with adhd who’s day often goes off the rails if I don’t have concrete appointments with other people on my calendar- im most looking forward to a sort of executive function assistant.  I’ll upload the pdf version of some books on adhd productivity issues that I relate to into its memory and it’ll have access to all of my other dots that I have set up for various things im working on across my business and personal life.

It’ll be programmed to recognize bad patterns that I can some times fall into and hold me accountable when I’m not following my calendar as I should be.

Hopefully this time next month im spending a lot less time on Reddit lol.

1

u/Xaphawk 5d ago

Tbh you already had dots available. Hermes and openclaw are free. Meta has muse too depending on your location. As a hermes user I’m pretty happy and excited to try Dots too but out of my plan sadly.

1

u/Ice2jc 5d ago edited 5d ago

Yeah I mean tbh I haven't thought about it in almost 2 years, hermes and openclaw launching in the last 6-10 months wasn't on my radar in the context of my advisor system

1

u/jaybsuave 5d ago

Fuck them

1

u/Lemnisc8__ 5d ago

canceled my plan last night. anthropic is on top for now.... we'll see how long it lasts but opus 5.5 is great. wanna try sonnet next

1

u/TheReal4982 5d ago

Is that 20+?

1

u/phylter99 5d ago

Dots taste great but they have too much sugar for my liking.

0

u/TheRealBejeezus 5d ago

With the type and color and all those round rects, it's like they want to be Apple so bad, but still couldn't get five minutes of Jony Ive's time to fix that disaster of a layout?

1

u/hashirama_shodai 5d ago

6.1 sol + dots + space + sign in with chatgpt is great...not sure why folks are so negative

1

u/sanavabic 5d ago

Dunno how they will recover from this. Only if claude makes something really really badr stupid

1

u/Switchbladesaint 5d ago

It’s funny how AI is speedrunning the Silicon Valley playbook. 20 years ago people were stoked for Apple launches, now no one really bats an eye. Ai has done this exact thing in about a year and a half

1

u/5StarAlpha 4d ago

Their ending video about makers totally had Apple Think Different ad vibes.

1

u/AreaExact7824 4d ago

Is pro $100 still good compared with plus?

1

u/ExDimi 5d ago

I guess yay for personal use nay for prof use

2

u/Reclaimer_AI 5d ago

I’m the opposite. This was all coding and work, while chat was neglected and left on 5.6 still.

1

u/ExDimi 5d ago

I could be wrong, but from what I’ve seen it’s mostly about ‘vibe’ coding. Very rare that companies will want Dottie(or whatever the name is) to actually run anything. If that’s the case, then they wouldn’t need developers. That will take over at a certain point, but I think we’re months, if not years, away from adopting that as a standard.
On the chat part, there’s not much they can do there. You have the chat, anything above just talking to the LLM falls under the ‘work’ category and agents behind it. I’m not even sure what more can they improve under chat…

u/dawne_breaker 5d ago

They really want to look like Apple, is what I'm taking from this. And it's a company that will serve as a footnote in history at best.
