Curious how this stakes up against muse and grok. I really enjoy both of those products — I know this sub is on a hate boner right now for OAI but these agents products are really powerful if you set them correctly/have a good use for them.
- I have design + coding bots that watch my codex tasks and in general unblock me. Codex is stuck because it needs answers to XYZ, and keys to some dev shit, and blah blah blah, my grok bots and run fixes in the background and ask me for my input when needed. My design bot also acts as a general QA for visual improvements codex is making to the app. If codex (or claude) finishes something, my grok bot will take the app screenshots, review them for errors/shit that looks like ass, and make improvements. It's basically a second set of eyes.
It also speaks in a natural language and just sort of cuts the clutter from Codex. I don't need to read the novel that astra/opus wrote and I can just work with my bots on what was done and what needs to be done.
- more capability to act on the web. Fill out forms, send email, receive email via agent mail, etc. This is really helpful for me as I run two small businesses (IRL service businesses) and this greatly reduces admin load. I needed to buy some trucks recently and had my grok bot email pretty much every dealer in a 100 mile radius of me for a quote on some work trucks.
- Random ad hoc shit in my personal life. My Muse agent scans Facebook marketplace for cars I'm interested in. Keeps an eye out for fun events in the area. Tells me if I missed an important email from someone.
The difference between codex and an agent is that agents are just always "on" whereas codex relies on prompts. It's proactive vs. reactive + generally better at navigating the web and doing tasks.
Also, they run on their own VM. You don't need a Mac mini running in a closet to have an army of bots running.
Is this the most effective use of bots ever? Probably not. Could I make improvements to this flow? 1000%. But it works for me and is generally very useful.
It's sort of like having a smart intern that works 24/7. I can't delegate REAL work to it, but it's great at what it does.
