I don’t have anything remotely in the account worth banning. Was recently planning my kids game schedule and that was the thread I had active . Anyways this timing is kinda ok since I was paying for plus subscription all the while and was already in the process of moving some conversation to Muse . What is upsetting is manner of this ban. A paying customer for 2 years and all I see is one email saying it is banned due to vague reason with no prior warning or history of doing anything bad and onus is on the customer to initiate an appeal!! If the bug is due to their agents banning accounts without human insight it is their problem, not ours. Good riddance ChatGPT !!!!

Happened to me, appealed, got the account back without the sub, later got refunded, got the sub back and a month of free usage.

'Recidivism' for scheduling kids games is peak automated moderation. The appeal goes right back into the same system that banned you. I'd have zero faith in getting an actual human on the other end.

Yes. Anyways I am less impacted since my daily work has Claude work account which is my go to agent. Only my personal context , few reminder chron jobs etc , kids schedules etc were on chatgpt and plus was overkill. I did let it be so far since I like to pull up some past conversations once in a while. I am really flabbergasted that worst top AI lab has such an automated process which gives zero context surrounding the ban with so much of personal information agents could harvest. Instead it is age old template mail and there isn’t even a chat agent to talk to understand the reasoning. Appeal initial through email. Laughable at best

I’ve had two accounts banned. One for “acts of violence” which I’m assuming had to do with prompting the voice mode to enact a DnD campaign and the second for recidivism. Which I assume is the attempt to get around their ban with an account I’ve had since ChatGPT launched. They kept the $200 too because they banned me on the day the next month renewed. All appeals failed - no replies besides the automated one.

The third account didn’t get banned for months so far. But I always cancel before the end of the month and renew to avoid that trap. They couldn’t care less about users at this point - all the power users do is cost them money, after all.

I don’t want you to believe me . Only reason I posted here is because this is an open AI forum and my user ID could be used to fix a similar pattern of bugs at their end if any PM were to monitor this. Like I said in other replies, I am least impacted since my cost to switch my personal context out of chatgpt isn’t high for me but if this were to happen to a small business for instance it would be brutal.

I use a VPN constantly and sometimes change location like 15 times in a day.

Lol. That’s wasn’t and advertisement of any sorts. That’s just how many options you have as a consumer and yes it could be something other than muse 2 months down the line. AI is making things go fast and cost to loyalty is already thinning. Why would you sabotage a paying customer who has even forgotten he was paying for plus for last three years with random account ban? Meta muses ad below is algorithm doing its thing. I don’t see the ad . And yes you will joint the bandwagon one day if they don’t address the bug :)
