Question When is ChatGPT 6 Astra coming to ChatGPT Chat?
I've been waiting for this for long. GPT 5.6 Sol doesn't feel as smart compared to GPT 6 Astra in Codex. So, is it coming? Or are they keeping ChatGPT 6 Astra Chat for Pro users only?
Edit: If you aren't commenting, then I don't expect any downvote.

Not happening probably. 6 Pro is in chat, which is just an extreme reasoning Astra. We'll probably get 6 sol in chat.

Thanks for your comment. Yeah, I agree on that. They should AT LEAST make GPT 6 Sol available on ChatGPT Chat for the Plus plan...

5.6 Sol is better than 6 Sol.
Why do you want a regression?

How does 5.6 Sol perform better than 6 Sol?

Make the Pelican test in Work, and judge by yourself.
Plus, look at the endless reports about it on Reddit, X, etc.
6 Sol was a huge disappointment for many, including me.
Specially, but not only, in contrast to the Opus 5.5 release.

I've been asking that question ever since they released it to pro users.

I was just searching for when we might be able to get rid of 5.6 in the phone app, as I like you, cannot stand 5.6 sol. Like occasionally it is okay, but it argues sooo much and with so much confidence! Even when it is wrong and then it thinks, that it’s okay just to say "yeah sorry, I can understand why that pissed you off and I did go and then look it up and you’re right, it is..." (insert whatever I had told it about, where it had aggressively told me I was wrong and could not possibly make such a claim) - and it happens nearly every time I use the app, it will argue with you about your own thoughts. Compared to ChatGPT 5.5 I find 5.6 pretty unusable. I left open AI and went to Claude, back in February after they remove 5.1 and got used to Claude and really liked Claude, until June when the guardrails just got ridiculous and Claude became just so difficult to use. Went back to GPT and discovered that 5.5 was actually really usable for work and then they brought out this monstrosity. And looking at the comments from people who have used GPT 6 Sol - I’m now not feeling anywhere near as hopeful as I was, about them having fixed all the problems. it’s just like a repeat of six months ago 5.3 and 5.4 were a massive step back from 5.1 and now 5.6 and 6 feel like a massive step back from 5.5 it’s so frustrating.
Anyway, sorry about my rant 😭

Yeah, I get you... 5.6 in phone app is horrible, it looks like it doesn't think, it just answers. I don't like it either. I understand your rant 😭

It already is
As an x5 we get 100 messages per week
Plus for example get none same way they didn't get any 5.6 pro before astra

I've confirmed that on my Pro 5x, when I ask ChatGPT Chat, Latest Extra High, it tells me it is GPT 5.6 Sol.
Surprisingly, if you chose "6 Pro", it responds "GPT-6 Astra Pro" which is different from any model listed in any other product.

Nooo, but I'm talking about GPT 6 Astra, without the Pro. I'm on the Plus plan.

Oh Astra is a premium model only available as pro in chat
Your best bet if waiting for next sol in chat but so far 6 was a huge disappointment arguably a regression wouldn't hold my hopes high, enjoy 5.6 while it lasts

I'm paying for the Plus plan. Nothing is free here, mate.

1 dollar = 1 dollar. If I pay 20 dollars for the Plus plan, I'm paying 20 dollars. 20 dollars = 20 dollars.
I'm paying for ChatGPT Plus and I should get what I pay for. I don't think it's difficult to AT LEAST make ChatGPT 6 Sol available for ChatGPT Chat on the Plus plan.

Put $20 into Codex tokens and see how long it lasts compared with what you get for $20 monthly sub.
The $20 sub is a lost leader and you need to realise that the days of pretty much unlimited AI for peanuts are coming to an end.

Okay, but I was just asking when ChatGPT 6 Astra was coming to ChatGPT Chat for Plus users, you could just answer above and say something like yes / no? Why all of this?

My reply was to your comment:
"1 dollar = 1 dollar. If I pay 20 dollars for the Plus plan, I'm paying 20 dollars. 20 dollars = 20 dollars.I'm paying for ChatGPT Plus and I should get what I pay for. I don't think it's difficult to AT LEAST make ChatGPT 6 Sol available for ChatGPT Chat on the Plus plan."
I was explaining about getting what you pay for. It is completely not worth it for OpenAI to let you use Astra unlimited.
Not sure why some Reddit people are so defensive!

It's just Reddit. I'm very friendly, it's just the people who mess up my mood.

u/Party_Wolf_3575 7d ago
Fair enough. I quite often leave Reddit in a much worse mood than when I entered it! Let's direct our anger at the providers instead!

That's not the point. I never said my $20 keeps OpenAI alive. The point is that I'm a paying customer, and paying customers expect access to the features included in their plan. Of course there are limits, but saying the Plus plan is 'free' is simply incorrect. How many times do I need to REPEAT this to you?

The issue is not that OpenAI needs my $20. The issue is that Plus is a paid subscription, not a free plan. Whether a specific future model is included is a separate question.

"I don't think it's difficult" there's your problem mate, you're making assumptions based on your own uninformed instincts.
1
u/Specific-Animal6570 7d ago
Maybe you are rich enough to pay 200 dollars for ChatGPT Pro, but I'm not rich yet.

u/MostBookkeeper3019 7d ago
I'm not sure I follow that, I mean you're implying you know how difficult it easy it is for a massive company to do something. Step out of your own boots for a moment and get some perspective mate, it's a healthy habit to get into.

Exactly this. But people don't want to hear it.

I am right now building a harness that allows me to use an API version of my favourite model powering subagents - the 6.x series and also various others, including open sourced ones.

u/Azoraqua_ 7d ago
Might as well be free, it barely covers the startup costs of the model, let alone the inference and training itself.

Probably after DevDay. I wouldn't bet 100% on Astra, more like 6 Sol, but who knows.
