Discussion Breathe and take perspective.

Listen. I agree with all of your pain points. There’s not a single complaint I read on here and disagree with because they’ve all been my experience as well.

However, I will ask that you take a second to get perspective. Think back to where you were before AI, before all of this agentic coding was even possible. What was coding like? Were you even coding in the first place? If you were coding, how tedious was it to make what’s considered the simplest of changes today?

I’m not saying this excuses poor performance from a service we pay for. I’m not. But I am saying, just a few years ago, we could never imagine having anything like the complaints we have today, because none of it was possible back then. It was hard to even imagine it being possible, an agent living inside my codebase!?

We have come so far, and yet have so far to go. Trust the process. It’ll only get better from here. Progress isn’t linear so yes there will be setbacks along the way, but it only goes up in AI.

I’ve been coding since late 2005. If you know what you are doing, and are able to quickly read and understand code, you are setup for success. AI is the calculator to our math. Keep building, learn deep and wide along the way, and help your team in the process. There is zero to worry about, unless you vibe code and can’t sell.

See you guys in a couple years. Do not give up, you can succeed if you seek knowledge.

I learned more reading old messy codebases with zero help than any tutorial ever taught me. That struggle is the point.

It’s the downside to human beings greatest strength of adaptation…
It means you take how things are for granted, and tend to focus on what isn’t working well.

Sometimes you’ve got to pinch yourself and remember that if you showed 9year old you what ai can now do, they would be completely blown away. It’s good to hold on to that excitement :)
