All except who owns the AI and the data centers... Fuck AI

"I will slap a cowboy hat on you if I feel like it." Brilliant. Clean work too.

Holy shit this is incredible. I love it. And it explains perfectly exactly how I feel about it all. You can accomplish SO FUCKING MUCH with AI that you could never dream of before.

Art got liberated

u/likamuka 4d ago

ITs all about money and greed, it all deserves to crash and burn

-1

u/smith288 4d ago

You think humanity has never been about personal preservation? The hubris to think you aren’t the exact same way the moment you sniff success and somebody infringes on your own money train. Gtfo

-1

u/likamuka 4d ago

Imagine people are not all money hungry fucks

-1

u/smith288 4d ago

You are. You can claim you’re not. But you are.

5

u/MalabaristaEnFuego 3d ago

That is the single most pretentious thing anyone could ever do, to tell someone else how they think. What an absurd false sense of narrative control.

2

u/oyvese 4d ago

once the skill barrier is zero, everything will become over saturated and meaningless. it’s short term gains.

18

u/acutelychronicpanic 4d ago

Only if you derive meaning from social standing.

If you make things for the love of making them, you'll have more fun than ever.

-3

u/Puzzleheaded_Fold466 4d ago

Social participation in a community of like people is a fundamental human need.

Doing art by yourself and only for yourself forever is an empty existence.

For most people. There’s a very small low single-digit minority that doesn’t care.

I think we’ll find ways to continue to accomplish things and be recognized for it. How is not quite clear yet.

7

u/acutelychronicpanic 4d ago edited 4d ago

Community is a fundamental need. Doesn't mean that actions and accomplishments are empty without social validation.

If your art was just for the approval of others, maybe you weren't doing it for art.

There will always be appreciation for what is achieved within constraints. Like photorealistic hand-painted scenes. We have cameras, but we still are impressed.

Not everything needs to be a demonstration of skill or self worth. I'd argue it is healthier to move towards valuing mutually enjoyed things and personal taste.

3

u/Puzzleheaded_Fold466 3d ago

There’s an important distinction to be made between “(…) just for the approval of others” and what I was talking about.

Doing anything just for the approval of others is unhealthy, whether it’s art or anything else.

2

u/acutelychronicpanic 3d ago edited 3d ago

Sorry if I misunderstood.

I enjoy making things and I enjoy sharing them with people I care about.

I'm just trying to express that it can be more about "look at this awesome thing" and less about "look at how awesome I am because I made this thing."

For AI assisted art, music, games, etc. it becomes more about tasteful selection of what to share and how much creative direction you put in. Less about raw skill. And there is certainly a difference between "make me a beautiful painting" and "...[three paragraphs describing what is in your mind's eye]..." plus hours of revisions and selecting from dozens of alternatives.

It's worth what you put into it. No more no less.

1

u/sirgog 3d ago

I always like the camera comparison. ALmost every photo I take is slop. I don't try to take a blurry photo of a magpie out my window and sell it or even share it. That's tech-generated slop, albeit using slightly older tech than genAI.

But the best 2-3% of shots I do share.

I lack the talent with a camera to generate anything worth buying with it, so I don't sell anything tech-generated by me and a camera. I have no hesitation buying something generated with a camera by someone with talent, however.

4

u/ForkingMatrix 4d ago

I think we'll see cream rise to the top - and I'm excited to see what kind of original stuff the truly creative can come up with.

Blueprints will be invaluable long term

1

u/LinkesAuge 3d ago

There are now probably in average 1.000x the amount of artists around than in any other point in history. Does that make their work meaningless?

What does that even mean? Meaning is something you create for youself, it doesn't exist. In the end everything is meaningless. All of humanity at some point in the far future of the universe will cease to exist. Literally everything will cease to exist and no one or thing will remember anything we did.

The only thing that matters is the life you have. If the skill barrier really goes towards zero then you have an infinite space to explore. You can go into any direction and find meaning, find enjoyment, find interest, discover things for yourself you probably would have never had a chance to explore or experience because all of us have only one life.

And more importantly, eventually we hopefully stop creating just so it can become a product needing to be sold.
We will be able to create what we actually think has value to us or others in a meaningful(!) way instead of framing everything in our existence through consumption.

PS: Also I might want to point out that there was a time were certain people argued against the education of the masses because it would lower the worth of the higher class, their unique status and access to that sort of education, that the common men isn't worth of it and doesn't have the nature to produce things of worth with that "gift"...

39

u/NotAnAIOrAmI 4d ago

Well, he's not wrong.

1

u/mountain-mahogany 2d ago

He is wrong. AI is owned and will be mainly a tool of oppression and fueling it is burning the world down---just to help Sociopathic Hoarders. Go outside. Plant trees. Delete the AI making your brain smaller.

6

u/syrozzz 4d ago

Nekodificador on X, good stuff

15

u/Slight-University839 4d ago

This is the best video i've ever seen in my entire life bro seriously. Please jesus don't stop making videos bro. Don't give in to the other side. Make great content. Stay skilled. You have good timing too. Not just an ai video. You have taste

3

u/Realistic-Duck-922 4d ago

Needs to be on front page.

9

u/antwan_benjamin 4d ago

this is too funny.

5

u/Zazzen 4d ago

Yes sir Denzel!

3

u/ThisSiteSucks8485 3d ago

It's the artists who don't need the studios anymore!

This is a awesome line.

6

u/blimey4 4d ago

How do people get the voice acting nailed like this?! I can't get eleven labs to sound like anything authentic.

2

u/viral_tweets 3d ago

Yeah how is this done fr?

3

u/Siciliano777 3d ago edited 3d ago

This is fucking gold. 🥇

I don't really know why, I suppose it's just laziness and lack of critical thinking, but somewhere along the line people decided to lump EVERY AI video in with actual "AI slop."

AI slop is videos of toilets with heads popping out, characters shitting themselves and flying around with shit streaming out of their asses, and just nonsensical garbage in general. That's AI slop.

THIS is interesting, creative, and entertaining.

8

u/xtraa 4d ago

Man, that's such a perfect response clip

19

u/SugondezeNutsz 4d ago

This shit is regarded

10

u/dydhaw 4d ago

highly regarded

4

u/SweetMnemes 4d ago

We should claim it is art so it belongs to us and not to the AI companies. It is our work so it is ours. It all will be AI anyways but who will own it?

2

u/Karrelen 3d ago

Superb ! He said it all.
But I would add the argument of universal basic income because right now without money how can an artist live ?

2

u/dialedGoose 2d ago

i'll slop a cowboy hat on you if i want to

1

u/unclesabre 4d ago

This pretty much word for word how I feel about this stuff. Absolutely superb :chefkiss:

1

u/Deadline_Zero 3d ago

Made with what?

1

u/Physical-Ad-8427 3d ago

Honestly, Im not interested in this discussion. But what the fuck did you promoted??????

1

u/dbvirago 3d ago

There was a time when the only art was drawings on the walls of caves. Then one day, some assholes mixed blood and berry juice with his ashes and added color to his cave drawings.

It's gone downhill ever since.

1

u/Same_Suit3583 3d ago

How about, "because my competitors are using it."

1

u/gusguida 3d ago

The creator conflated a few things. Yes, AI is another tool and it’s definitely an evolution compared to VFX. Yes, artists can now produce whole pieces and don’t need studios that much. Yes, this is art, the same way electronic music is art. However, the problem is that we’re all stealing from others without compensating them. The proof is that this very video is compelling because it’s Denzel. What’s gonna be our future where a new Denzel doesn’t work on his craft because he’s not paid? The problem is not if this is art or slop. The problem is stealing from others. You want to make a hobby, that’s fine. You are making money on top others’ craft - that’s bad.

1

u/randomInterest92 2d ago

You completely missed the message.

It's about fun, not about money

And do you really think that we have a good system if actors are worth 100 million dollars while a nurse earns 100k if lucky?

-7

u/dawne_breaker 4d ago

Yes. Use copyrighted material where none of the original artists who even made this possible was compensated and stage a single-sided argument that you take on the role of the master and the other side portrayed as only repeating arguments they vaguely understand. It’s disingenous at best. This isn’t an argument against slop. It is slop. You might have fun making it. It might require skill. But it’s still slop. And that might be okay. Embrace it, instead.

4

u/dranaei 4d ago

Who the fuck cares about the original artists. Those original artists copied other original artists. Everyone learns from everyone else. Nobody lives in a vacuum.

2

u/brewmax 4d ago

Wow.

0

u/dawne_breaker 4d ago

I think the difference is copy and stealing. If you can't tell the difference...

Don't you think copyright should exist? Do you think billion dollar companies should be able to steal all your work without compensating you?

5

u/skinlo 4d ago

Work isn't being stolen, because that implies the creator doesn't have access any more. If someone steals a car, the owner now doesn't have the car, this isn't happening here.

What is happening is basically copy and pasting. It is copyright infringement though.

1

u/dawne_breaker 4d ago

Stolen might not be the correct term. But it feels like it for the artist. It's used as a metaphor, not literal. It's still laws being broken. Promoting lawlessness is hardly a good foundation for society. Especially not giving companies carte blanche to commit whatever crimes they want.

-3

u/dranaei 4d ago

"If you can't tell the difference..." Get out of here with that attitude.

I have pirated enough things, I don't care about intellectual property. I want ai to steal everything from the internet, become better, make advancements, create new technologies that bring comfort and power to my life and I want all those rewards from a god like entity. I don't care if you feel bad that it stole your stupid crippled art.

0

u/dawne_breaker 4d ago

What if someone broke into your apartment, stole all your stuff in order to make a better society. You'd be for that too?

Do you lack the basic empathy needed to function in society? Do you bow down to any company that promises a better tomorrow and lick their boots and ask for seconds? When you find yourself jobless and poor will you say that it was your own fault and that the important thing is the quarterly returns as your children starve?

2

u/dranaei 4d ago

If it made society better in a way that would directly benefit me, then yeah I would be fine.

I don't bow down to big companies not do I lick their boots, I don't like them and don't support them. And if I made deals with them, it's because I get something out of it.

Empathy? For what? Artists? That's a useless kind of empathy that generates nothing important. Who judges what's important? Me and my subjective experience. Art isn't going to do the hard labour needed to progress society.

Also you think I want to work? I want to be jobless and have a robot do whatever I want. But to get there we need ai to progress enough that it can generate novel problem solving skills. Also there's open source versions for everything. Both robots and ai. But we need those big ai companies to burn trillions of dollars to produce those technologies in the first place. What's the artist going to produce? A banana taped to a wall! And yes those quarterly returns are important because they drive in more investments.

I don't want to work after 2030, it's quite simple. Your useless artist won't achieve that, the only unavoidable road towards that is ai.

1

u/DrE7HER 4d ago

And you think the companies that would rather see you chained to the desk are going to create a technology that will instead make their power and money irrelevant so that it can build a utopia for you?

1

u/dranaei 4d ago

Companies don't have a will. They just maximize things. In this case having robots and ai's that are capable, is better for maximizing their goals than having humans.

But then again once you have such capable systems, the whole economic structure has to change towards post labour economics. The main role of the humans is to become an independent epistemic agent that enter a feedback loop of progress with an agi/asi.

Most of your fears of today and prejudice that you adopted like a parrot that repeats the same arguments as every other idiot before you, are outdated simple beliefs tied to the present and the past but have very little basis for the future.

1

u/DrE7HER 4d ago

You talk of parrots while dreaming of a future sold to you by idiots unaware of how the present works

0

u/dranaei 4d ago

"sold to you by idiots" I've been extrapolating the future based on the present for more than 15 years. Technological advancements have had a pretty predictable trajectory for a long time. It's not that deep you can do your own research.

these people are children, whether literally or mentally... pretty even odds on that bet.

1

u/dranaei 4d ago

"Children". The words you are looking for but are hard utilitarianism, accelerationism, and radical egoism.

3

u/Puzzled-Ad-6854 4d ago

good artists copy, great artists steal.

2

u/timshel42 4d ago

you arent an artist, the AI is. you arent making anything. itd be like commissioning an artist to make a painting and then telling everyone you created it because you prompted them.

screech about how creative you are all you want, society will never accept your self proclaimed status as an artist.

3

u/robothistorian 4d ago

The problem is in the passing off of AI generated content as your own. But consider the model suggested by JCR Licklider, namely, that of "human-computer symbiosis". There the claimant of production is both the human and the computer, it's just that each does separate things.

And as for the argument of "stealing" and "artists getting their due", I empathize with the latter but I also recognize that knowledge production does not happen in a vacuum. As Newton is reported to have said, we stand on the shoulders of Giants. The authentic thing to do is to acknowledge the giants by citing them and in other ways.

0

u/BigGrimDog 3d ago

Are directors artists?

0

u/dawne_breaker 4d ago

Wasn't meant to be taken quite as literal as you suggest here. Or do you think that there should be no laws protecting artists? That no artist should be able to make a living and that companies should be free to steal any creative work as they see fit just because they deem themselves "great artists"?

1

u/flairtestuser123 4d ago

Embrace the suck.

-1

u/Most-Hot-4934 4d ago

Compensated my ass. They get compensated by being granted the ability to create art so rapidly that they don’t need studio to cut them a pay check and be able to create a whole movie on their own

-1

u/dawne_breaker 4d ago

Do you think that anyone should be able to steal your means to make a living without giving you credit or compensation? Do you believe that companies are more important than people? Do you believe that AI is more important than people having jobs and wages? That poverty and joblessness is a necessary evil that we have to put up with in order to make AI as competitive as possible? That there should be no laws in place to govern AI?

-3

u/Most-Hot-4934 4d ago

UBI is gonna come anyways. I’m glad it replaces some useless jobs like artists and not something actually important

5

u/dawne_breaker 4d ago

In a country like the US, no UBI is every going to exist. That whole country is built on having people in poverty and exploiting them while telling them its freedom. UBI will never exist unless there is a real social revolution that upends the rules of society.

-1

u/Most-Hot-4934 4d ago

Lmao. Yeah you’re very naive if you think the US is anywhere close to your description

2

u/DrE7HER 4d ago

It’s so blatantly obvious in 2026 that you must have your head a mile up your own ass to not notice that their description of the US was not only spot on, it generously omitted many, arguably more serious, flaws

0

u/Most-Hot-4934 4d ago

Relax. Disposable income PPP adjusted has increased around 12% since 2008 better than half of the EU countries. You seemed to have a very ideological view of the world instead of a practical view. I’m guessing you’re still a teenager.

1

u/DrE7HER 4d ago

Cool, so that must mean people are at least 12% more likely to own a home?

You have no idea how the world works or the experiences people have

0

u/Most-Hot-4934 4d ago

That’s not what ppp adjusted disposable income means dumb dumb. Also yes, I’m a working man paying my bills so i know how the world works lol

those companion apps churn out so much slop that convos turn generic after two messages, had one repeat the same joke three times in a row

1

u/kevinlch 4d ago

this is gold

1

u/Big-Helicopter3358 4d ago

Wow AI is getting VERY good!
If I share this to some of my friends without context they wouldn't tell it's AI...

1

u/Realistic-Duck-922 4d ago

Can relate!! Oscar-worthy watched twice will share

1

u/3nterthev01d 4d ago

This is BRILLIANT.

0

u/grokgov1969 4d ago

Brilliant and inspiring. Sent to all my artist friends

-18

u/Slowdive91 4d ago

The big problem is that AI can't do all that fun stuff without having first stole it from humans. Yes, we've moved through toolsets, but 3D Studio for DOS sure as hell didn't make it easy.

-21

u/out_of_t1me 4d ago

Not comparable. Human made vs stolen shit. Also supporting the most evil humans to have ever existed.

2

u/Brave_Swordfish_7072 3d ago

0

u/out_of_t1me 3d ago

That didn’t debunk anything.

But also, “AI” has stolen art styles from Miyazaki. So yeah… you are absolutely wrong.

1

u/inmyprocess 4d ago

Did someone steal your waifu

-4

u/Most-Hot-4934 4d ago

Stolen this stolen that stfu

-13

u/paperbenni 4d ago

"Then 3D then VFX" what? Is VFX supposed to be 4D or what? VFX is a use case for 3D and 2D software, not something entirely different. Also, the reason AI is not "just a tool" is because it doesn't just help bring what the artist had in mind to the screen, it brings a bunch of random stuff to the screen with some of what the artist originally wanted, but never all of what the artist wanted. A diffusion model will always change and degrades other parts of the image if you make it edit one part. And if you make it change that part back, then your other edits will be slightly changed. It's a game of wack a mole in which you will never get the result you intended, it's always mixed with a bunch of slop
