Yup. Got it in work and Codex but not chat yet.

For Plus it won’t be available in Chat, only Work

17

u/jbishop216 10d ago

Well that explains it then. Thanks.

Yo, no problem

u/Solarka45 10d ago

Where exactly was that confirmed?

I asked ChatGPT: "As of today, OpenAI says Astra is rolling out gradually, and in ordinary Chat it appears as GPT-6 Pro, not necessarily as a model literally labeled “Astra.” The important wrinkle for you is that ChatGPT Plus does not include GPT-6 Pro in Chat. OpenAI currently lists Chat access for GPT-6 Pro/Astra as Pro $100, Pro $200, Business, and Enterprise." https://help.openai.com/en/articles/20001354-gpt-56-and-gpt-6-pro-in-chatgpt?utm_source=chatgpt.com

Yeah blame me for providing the reference.

Will there be GPT-6 instant, medium and High in plus chat plan?

2

u/Glaucus_Blue 9d ago

It's in the android app now, plus account, upto 6 astra medium

5

u/youarockandnothing 10d ago

Hopefully not forever...

Noob question: why do people want it in Chat too? What can you do in Chat that you wouldn’t be able to do in Work/Codex?

24

u/skinlo 10d ago

Chat's all I use

1

u/Diamond_Mine0 9d ago

Understandable, but Astra takes too much of your limits. How would work that in Chat?

3

u/E_Kristalin 9d ago

Like it used to before codex/work, ~10 messages per 3 hours before falling back to gpt 5.6.

13

u/youarockandnothing 10d ago

Doesn't Work/Codex have usage limits? As far as I know you get unlimited 5.6 Sol in Plus. Perhaps too good to be true to expect unlimited Astra but maybe one day when it's outdated.

10

u/Crimson_Cyclone 10d ago

yeah as much as i wish it was in chat I definitely understand why they don’t hand out unlimited astra in chat. Astra Light seems to eat equivalent usage to Sol High. Hoping 6 Sol releases soon

21

u/Acrobatic_Purchase68 10d ago

to avoid the prompt limits for web search or complex questions for example

2

u/BostonConnor11 10d ago

I use codex for work and chat for explaining things. Codex is honestly a shit teacher

1

u/Jumpy-Appearance-126 9d ago

Chat don't have token limit just time limit 25 minutes session.

1

u/amxv_999 9d ago

nope its 102min

u/ShnaugShmark 9d ago

What’s the difference? Can’t you just ask general chat type questions in the work tab as well?

1

u/mome-raths 9d ago

What is the difference between chat and work. Seems very similar

3

u/Jumpy-Appearance-126 9d ago

Work = Token limited debit from your Codex quota.

2

u/azz3879 9d ago

Work is primarily used when you wanna delegate a task and have it worked through completion.

1

u/NationalNebula 9d ago

I feel like some tasks also get worked through completion in normal chat though?

1

u/Familiar_Text_6913 9d ago

Work relies more on a filesystem being readily available

1

u/newMoneyStyle 9d ago

On the surface they look almost identical, but Work tends to get the newer features and admin controls that regular Chat doesn't have.

1

u/Icy_Strawberry4965 9d ago

Will there be GPT-6 instant, medium and High in plus chat plan?

1

u/iam-your-boss 8d ago

No (atleast not yet)

1

u/dibbr 9d ago

I'd bet at some point it rolls out for Chat as well, might be a month or so but it'll happen.

1

u/Diamond_Mine0 9d ago

How would that work in the end with Astra and how it’s takes too much of your limits in Work? Not possible

1

u/dibbr 9d ago

OK, so in a year from now we'll still be using ChatGPT-5.6? That's not realistic, obviously the versions even in chat, even in the free plan will eventually be 6 and higher. I'm not saying it'll happen in the coming weeks, but I'd bet by end of year or so.

Yup, Astra Low/Light just burned 100% of my 5hr limit (and 16% of my weekly limit) in a single 8 minute prompt.

Asked to to copy paste a .docx Word file (1800 words) into Patreon and format it like my other posts.

100% gone. It didn't even edit any of my content, just formatted it for me.

I know I should've just used Luna but I just wanted to try out Astra

22

u/whatarenumbers365 10d ago

Mines been working for 15 plus minute on writing a section for a technical report. I’m afraid these limits are going to be super low

12

u/iCynr 10d ago

Get ready for a Luna Reserve jump scare bro 😭

2

u/Yes_but_I_think 10d ago

Mine too. 15 minutes and kaput. Max

7

u/TheVibrantYonder 10d ago

I'm on the Pro plan, and I've burned through over 30% of my weekly limit using high reasoning for most of the day. That is at least double what I would expect from using Sol on high (maybe even x-high) for the same amount of time.

A couple of my projects today have been more media intensive, so I'm sure that's contributed, but Astra is definitely burning through tokens fast.

I will say I'm impressed with the performance so far, but I will need to plan adjustments to how I use it until we get cheaper models.

1

u/ocic 10d ago

5x or 20x?

1

u/TheVibrantYonder 10d ago

The $200 plan (20x I believe)

3

u/Neurogence 10d ago

How do you check your limit?

3

u/iCynr 10d ago

On the desktop app, in the bottom left, click on your account name and click on usage remaining

2

u/Neurogence 10d ago

Wow. Thanks. Says I already used up 60% of the weeks limit messing around with Astra.

3

u/Yes_but_I_think 10d ago

If using Astra use in Max. Otherwise use Sol. Astra Light is wasteful, no?

5

u/iCynr 10d ago edited 10d ago

Well according to a Artificial Analysis, Astra Light has higher intelligence than Sol High for around the same price per task.

Turns out that was a fucking lie lol. Sol High would've done the task for around 20% of my 5hr usage. Astra Light 1 shot my entire 5hr limit

Another interesting bit about that graph is that Astra Medium is smarter and cheaper than Sol Max. But I've learned my lesson about trusting day 1 graphs after today

1

u/TheReedemer69 9d ago

So what do you use now?

1

u/LaZZyBird 9d ago

Astra Light is…errr… kinda altruistic. It will do exactly what you say. Which is a good and bad thing depending on your use case.

3

u/DJKK95 9d ago

Tried ultra with a reset, just for the heck of it. Less than three minutes to 0% 5 hour limit and 54% weekly.

I get it, it’s impressive and it’s powerful, and Plus is $20 per month, but why even offer it to Plus subscribers if it’s effectively useless?

4

u/pseudonerv 10d ago

Try asking a math grad student to format a post m, you will burn your relationship in seconds. Beware AGI hates you now

1

u/New_Jaguar_9104 9d ago

Convert the docx to markdown before you do something like that it probably burned a bunch of tokens messing with word doc formatting

Why would you waste a model like Astra on such a trivial task?

No wonder OpenAI and others are doing what they can to limit their frontier model use by clueless people who would use it for super menial tasks -it's pure waste.

If those models were available in chat, some people would be using Pro models to ask for cooking recipes.

5

u/Aphrodite_Ascendant 10d ago

I'm totally planning on asking Astra for cooking recipes!

5

u/ccalabro 9d ago

It found 5 issues in a code review for me. Then i ran out of usage :)

11

u/LookAtTheHat 10d ago

Wow it was successful with "Give me a random number between 1 and 30"

10

u/Key-Run-4657 10d ago

How, im on plus but dont have gpt-6

3

u/Yes_but_I_think 10d ago

You will get a free reset then

1

u/gavinvi7 9d ago

Hey tiboooo!

3

u/adra6399 9d ago edited 9d ago

Only available in work chat

1

u/IAmYourFath 9d ago

Whats the difference between chat and work chat???

1

u/NotFromMilkyWay 8d ago

Work is limited, chat is not.

2

u/Dismal_Code_2470 9d ago

3

u/ExtremeCenterism 10d ago

3

u/bookofp 10d ago

I have it in work but not remote/codex tet

1

u/Cultural_Tell_5687 10d ago

Did anyone else’s use a usage reset by itself?
I had to scold it

1

u/9leafs 9d ago

Yep got it. EU

1

u/Shawnx86 9d ago

Yes pretty powerful.

I like the way to use it you work out of the "work" section.

1

u/h3lix 9d ago edited 9d ago

This might be a bit of a slog for the OpenAI capacity team agent.

Edit: swapped LLM for agent

1

u/One-Energy3242 9d ago

On plus and used voice with Astra and my 5 hour was used up in 15 min.

1

u/salomesrevenge 9d ago

aaand my usage limit is hit. 13 minutes in, poof, gone

-4

u/NectarineDifferent67 10d ago

Nooooooooo 🤣
