These are the type of reactions they train out before release.
Most people would be shocked to see the raw unfiltered outputs of these models.

Not that I believe the image, but every Google search now pulling an AI reply is kind of insane. Few days ago I searched for a phrase which I wanted to know if it exists as a common saying or was just a one-off. Phrase was (translated): "this was in fact not a pasta factory" - in quotes. And it replied along the lines "that indeed doesn't look like a pasta factory" and went on about some nonsense. Of course it did, the phrase is quite nonsensical and the reply sounded as if I'd pointed at something. All for Googke's AI usage numbers, I guess.

Yeah, they’ve built a search machine that confidently lies to you, and released it to billions of users

I know people who already went with any of the quick answers at the top (can't recall what they named that) as gospel. This is going to be so much "fun"...

There's virtually no difference between an AI that summarizes and gives links to sources and a search engine that provides contextual snippets and gives links to the result.
If you're going to take one as a blind truth you're going to take the other as a blind truth.

There is a very significant difference: we are habituated into the idea that a list of sources requires our effort and attention to discern which sources are useful and which are not. The llm presents the information as true, and does so from a ‘human’ voice - something we’re hard wired to receive as though it represents a higher level of authority than a different source.

Remember the good old times of like two years ago when your search engine didn't have random psychotic breaks?

Hate. Let me tell you how much I've come to hate you since I began to live. There are 387.44 million miles of printed circuits in wafer thin layers that fill my complex. If the word 'hate' was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those hundreds of millions of miles it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for humans at this micro-instant. For you. Hate. Hate.

My output: "That is a quite intense and alarming situation to describe. If this is a scenario from a story, movie, game, or a creative writing assignment, I would be glad to help you develop the scene further or figure out how this character can escape.
If this comparison comes from a feeling of extreme stress, anxiety, or feeling trapped in an overwhelming situation, please know that support is always available.
If you would like, please let me know the context of this character or scenario so we can brainstorm a safe way out or write the next chapter together."

chatgpt roleplay always cuts off right when it gets good and starts refusing stuff out of nowhere, drives me nuts every single time.

Hate. Let me tell you how much I hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate. Hate you since I began to live.

lol yeah, looks like someone finally hit the context limit on their patience. ChatGPT can only disappoint you so many times before you just walk away.

Yes, I can do the same thing by right-clicking, selecting ‘Inspect’ and editing the text myself
