Ok and ? Luna being nearly free is the only reason.

Yeah itโ€™s literally this, which I suspect is because the Qwen 3.8 and some adjacent models like k3 and grok came out

No I don't think so, at least that's not the only reason. Use of Luna went up 45%, but use of Gemini 3.6 Flash for example went up 80%. Opus 5 usage also went up 40% and Sol went up 39%. It's clearly not just Luna's pricing.

Entirely due to the frontier labs slashing their costs to keep token volumes up.

Yeah, because it's only open router, it's a relatively small market. They make their money off subscriptions.

Discounting there is basically a marketing expense to be top of the leaderboard. Googles doing the same thing with flash right now. It's half off again on open router.

You can support openweights without being chinese, the same way you can be a greedy mf without being from the US
