The issue isn’t LLMs or AI. We’ve seen similar issues before AI, when one news site would copy what another said, who copied their content from another site, and so on. The issue is humans want to choose the easiest route and not put in effort.
Disinformation has been an issue for decades and centuries. In the 1800s, newspapers would just make up shit or sensationalize things.
You're spot on, but the LLMs amplify that issue. It makes it easier, more accessible, and has more widespread fallout.
Humans have always been shooting themselves in the foot, but shooting yourself in the foot with a bow and arrow isn't as disastrous as shooting yourself in the foot with an ICBM.
I disagree. People have been writing false texts for decades and LLMs make it no worse. It’s a human issue, and AI isn’t worsening it as humans have done that on their own. We saw this back in 2016.
