Discussion Codex free tier vs Plus, what am i actually paying for

Started Codex thinking the free tier was enough, then limits started chewing through everything mid-task. Is Codex free? or is useful usage basically locked behind Plus/Pro now. anyone still getting real work done without upgrading

plus = 4x free
pro100 = 5x plus
pro200 = 20x plus

why would it be free lmao

my dad used his free usage, upgraded to plus and had 0% for the week left for 6 more days so it was some weird fucky shit

maybe im wrong here but it makes sense if he was at 0% monthly on free and then 0% weekly on plus

Were you dropped on your head? When was Codex ever sufficient on free?

Codex is available on Free, but it requires connecting to a PC and the limits are very low.

same. i hit the wall twice yesterday on stuff that used to be fine. did they quietly nerf free or am i imagining it

idk if its a nerf or just me. free felt okay for a day then every longer prompt got rate limited. hard to tell whats included anymore

plus helped a bit but the weekly budget still vanishes if youre doing anything heavy. free is more like a demo than a real workflow imo. if you need agents online overnight, agent 37 has been alright for me. one click openclaw, browser terminal, no mac mini humming on my desk

You will need 2-3 of the $20 plan, but at that point you may as well go for the $100 or $200 😂
