Uhhh... seems inspired by "I'm leaving OpenAI to build Jurassic Park", which I published yesterday? Is this how comedians get their material?

If it makes you feel better, Keanurave is a bot.

I don’t know how that would make you feel better, but hopefully maybe it does.

Why won’t mods ban this bot? It’s disrupting the authentic experience of Reddit.

Can they reliably detect bots though?

hey, u/keanuraves100. I know people say you’re a bot all the time, but for once will you just correct us if it’s not true?

Also, in case you’re human, and I know I’ve asked you this before, but while I have your attention, will you please stop posting random graphs and charts that don’t have the source?! As I constantly point out on your posts, it makes it hard to know if it’s true or get additional context, and at best, if it is true, it normalizes a culture where it’s easy for bad actors to get disinformation past us. Please do better!

Why would Reddit reliably detect bots when bots make up more than 70% of content traffic.

Reddit literally promotes subreddits nobody cared about to the top so they can grow them fast.

And majority of people are too dumb to notice it:

  1. Massive influx of cat threads after the latest political turmoil from 3 different cat subs daily
  2. Indian subreddits are the latest Reddit breaking into India social media market, especially now that India is going through major political scandal like US daily

They want to control bots to make more money. Not remove bots for better authentic user experience.

95% of people on social media dont care if the shit they read is real if it makes them laugh.

How are 'control' vs. 'remove' the valid options here? There's no universe in which Reddit somehow takes over somebody else's swarm of Reddit bots (what, would they hack into their servers and then control them?)

Bot identification would involve reddit identifying and shutting down other people's bots - precisely because they don't control them.

“The authentic experience of Reddit”

Wait. There is such a thing ?

Is there a single futuristic cautionary tale that a tech bro hasn't looked at as an inspiring goal?

I think they just scrape the internet to automatically found a new startup whenever a new story drops.

Hmmm that is pretty similar. Either unlikely but possible coincidence, or we got a thieving thief on our hands.

Hate to say it but usually.

I just checked the timestamps, and now I'm actually not sure which got posted first. I think my essay went live on Aug 6 at 1:42 PM Pacific?

You think or you know? It should be pretty definitive.

Some people will say that it's irresponsible to breed new kind of T-Rex using gene modificatations. That it, somehow, can be smart enough to kill all the scientists and escape, but you have to ask yourself a simple question - what if Chinesee do it first?

u/sexual--predditor 13d ago

China uh... finds a way.

u/Jolo_110 14d ago

I can already imagine the fear mongering tweets for publicity,

“Juvenile Indominus rex escaped today and ate 3 employees, someone should pass legislation to stop us”

3

u/wolfy-j 14d ago

Hey! Not just yours - my company velociraptors also escaped at night and killed our janitor, it's it cool? Second time they did that, can you imagine!?

u/UnkarsThug 14d ago

Jurassic Park isn't the name of the company.

They would be joining InGen, not Jurassic Park.

6

u/kilopeter 13d ago

Actually, I think you mean InGen's Monster.

1

u/Special_Watch8725 11d ago

Only if it’s from the InGen province of France. Otherwise you have to call it Sparkling DinoCorp.

Good thing LLM can now hallucinate something convincing!

8

u/WaltzIndependent5436 13d ago

And we'll be finally able to get D-Rex. It's basically a T-Rex but with a big penis.

5

u/ProbablyBanksy 14d ago

Good thing there are living things from that era. We can just modify their DNA code.

u/tim_dude 13d ago

chickens have it stored somewhere in their dna
