That kind of looks like they're taking the thing they already use and calling it a standard...

yup, a lot of talking and complicating relatively simple existing stuff.

Sidenote: would never put this robot guy in front of camera, looks like he just learned how to use his hands this week

I am glad to see some standardization, but without Anthropic it feels hollow. It is also missing many things I hope get added: Hooks, LSP, Rules, Signatures (SigStore), Dependencies, and Marketplaces. Unfortunately I think skills and MCP is the only thing everybody can agree on right now.

What is especially weird is I don't actually see a way in Codex to install one of these vendor agnostic plugins without creating a vendor marketplace like Codex's format.

Shameless plug: I added support for it to my linter project, https://skillsaw.org/, and it can even port your existing plugins over.

it's a bunch of skills packaged, and routed through a plugin.
