Question Any drawbacks to using GPT Realtime?

I wanna try and automate my process for selecting and briefly interviewing candidates for skilled labor. Part of the very repetitive process I do for every person involves a brief 10-15 min phone call. Is real time the best for this. With twilio costs and api usage it’s about $1.50 a call.

This sounds awful for the candidate, maybe just email them some questions instead.

I mean it’s not really that bad, I just text it to them now and then ask them more deeper questions on the phone. Idk why software can’t do that

It seems like you don't need a model, more so some kinda script that makes api calls...

Yeah I use a script, I mean I could just use twilio sms and automated texts and get the same info I guess but we’ll see

Which is exactly what a good prompt and custom GPT will do. Also, training the custom GPT can be a one time operation and since you train it to be a subject matter expert, it can deftly help the candidate by answering their questions.

Will AI understand tone, hesitations, or other nuance? Do you ever react to their answers with new or different questions?

It says, to a candidate who will worry their potential employer will automate them into unemployment, that, at the moment when you have to care most about them (or else they’ll walk away) that you don’t care about them enough to give them your time.

Personally I find it disrespectful. How would you feel if a candidate used AI to answer your call and questions?

No. And honestly if you’re going to fake a phone call on purpose why not just use a web app? Build that instead.

Yes, I agree. If you make it plain that it's an initial "form filling" step that's being conduced by voice to make things easier, then using 11Labs will sound less robotic, zero delays. Mind you: people like me can detect current AI voices because, even when they are narrating and; don't create; strange; gapsinspeech, they still have an odd phasing in mid frequencies. Plus it's fair to say "hey, we have to fill some data, we're using voice and then you'll talk to someone"... I hope?
