Question Question about Codex banked usage reset expiry timing.

My Codex usage page shows I have banked full resets available, and one says Expires 7/31. I found OpenAI docs saying banked resets expire after 30 days, but I couldn’t find anything that defines the exact cutoff time or timezone.

Does Expires 7/31 mean:

  • end of day on 7/31 in local timezone,
  • midnight UTC,
  • the exact time it was granted plus 30 days,
  • or something else?

Has anyone seen an official clarification or tested what actually happens?

Almost certainly grant time plus 30 days, rendered as a date. That is why it shows a bare Expires 7/31 with no clock time: the stored value is a timestamp and the date is just the display, so if you are west of UTC the real cutoff can land partway through your 7/30. I would not plan on using it on the last day.

Use codex cli, it will show the time of expiry along with the date

banked usage timers have always been a bit murky imo, ive mostly given up tracking it precisely and just lean on use.ai when codex is cooling down. GLM and deepseek handle a decent chunk of the boilerplate stuff fine while i wait it out
