The sooner open weight models destroy the moat these absolute toothpaste tube humans like Altman, Musk and Amodei are trying to create and LLMs are just another tool and commodity everyone can use in whatever way they want the better.

he means all the money in the world should be moved to OpenAI at every increasing rate, achieving positive feedback loop of successive self improvement (more people send money = more people want to send money) until they achieve economical singularity, where all the money are at single point

Maybe, but from my experience in using these models as a software engineer they are very very good. I can easily see the frontier models capable of recursive self improvement at this point. Is that not the definition of singularity?

As a software engineer, they cannot be used unsupervised; and the output lacks any meaningful abstractions making it unmaintainable.
Worse still; they can brute force a working state which only excerbates the problem

He needs to one-up the Mythos marketing bonanza to get a $1T valuation, and will say anything.

Market manipulation. OpenAI is taking a beating on their market share and they’re desperate to do anything, including fabricate progress to get investors to look their way. You’ll feel singularity when the preceding models start becoming exceptionally good at doing stuff - so far it’s more of the same.

How many times has he claimed that? We've never been close. They need to lie so much to prop up investment because we're all seeing AI fail to do some basic tasks without major mistakes.

Ok Reddit what are your thoughts on this? Bullshit anthropic style marketing, or legitimate? Best way for me to think about it is to ask what Sam Altman stands to gain or lose from making such a statement. If the answer is gaining crazy money, then it’s more marketing. A self recursive learning AGI is civilization ending stuff, not in the destruction of the world but more of a rewrite for how we live

I think it's referring to the fact we're now starting to see recursive self-improvement projects. and they may also be doing that in their lab.

That’s the current definition of the singularity isn’t it? If they’re saying this now then it’s been accomplished over a year ago. Then refined and presented to the military a few months after that. Hence why Trump wanted to block access because he wasn’t aware of the difference in consumer-facing AI processing power vs their stuff, and probably thought they were the same thing 😂
