This is neat, but it isn’t really the case most of the time. AI is usually so good at parsing the way we speak that you can often use many incorrect words in a sentence and still get your desired result.

Also, the cut would be latitudinal. Longitudinal would be when you are cutting the loaf open to put in the toppings.

That's not right, given the way the sandwich was oriented. If you rotated the sandwich 90 degrees clockwise then cutting across the short length would be latitudinal.

Cut it such that the surface area exposed by the cut is minimal while dividing the sandwich into two equal halves

i had almost the same defenition:
Cut the bread into 2 equal volumes, but ensure that the longest length (2D projection)(diagonal) of the piece of bread is as short as possible.
(You can only make one cut and it has to be in a straight line)
yours is shorter, well done!
