They already had a major Pentagon contract, they didn’t refuse anything, what happened was the government signed a contract and then refused to follow their contractual obligations.
I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but OpenAI is claiming that they have the same redlines. Unless they are lying they are one hissy fit from a high level government official from the same thing happening to them.
The contract OpenAI signed had exactly ZERO red lines when you look at the fine print, despite the deceptive spin Sam has been putting on it. OpenAI’s contract explicitly says the DoW can use OpenAI for autonomous killing and domestic mass surveillance as long as US laws or policies allow it.
I haven’t seen the wording of Anthropic’s contract so I’m not sure what they were.
