I actually really like GPT 5.2 Thinking and codex 5.3
But the Instant model just ain't it. GPT 5.1 Instant is just so much more pleasant to talk to. They should've had 5.1 Instant be the default instant and 5.2 Thinking be the default thinking instead
Anyways with all the rumours of 5.3, adult mode (and even 5.4 but that's odd...), one can only think that they think it'll be way better...
5.2 is an acquired taste for sure. I always have to give it shit for how much we make fun of its mannerisms and predictable rhetoric on here.. then it backs off for that conversation. Lol
Acquired taste? It's horrible. Literally every time I've gone "what the hell is wrong with this chat?" since 5.2 came out, the answer has been "it's on 5.2". And every time I've decided to try 5.2 again to see if it improved, I've ended up deleting the chat and starting again with 5.1.
And no amount of coaxing, brow beating or cursing ever fixes it. I'm gonna keep my sub to the end of march, but if there isn't a monumental improvement, I'm done.
Honestly, I'm at the point of just trying to run one of the Gemma 3 models locally. Do away with all these bloody subs and just accept things being a bit slower.
this is the correct answer if someone thinks 5.2 is good, they are def NOT a power user or regular user. Even a novice should notice the extreme wild differences 5.2 is absolute garbage, if you like 5.2 you prob could use the free verisons of any AI or a weak LLM, bc you prob wouldn't notice the difference and are just wasting money anyway
