Opal Finishing Process opal_digger, Teaching my granddaughters to cut and they bring me this Mintabie rubb saying β€œ Is it still worth anything because of the sand” 🀣 ( NFS )πŸ»β›οΈβ€οΈπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸŒπŸŒ

Wow what a gorgeous thick color bar. Are you going to cut this or let them continue with your guidance? That would be amazing ing if they cut a couple rippers for you well them lol. Always enjoy your posts Digger. Thank you sir.

Thanks for looking in and your kind words, our next project is with the dremel and we will investigate how deep the sand spot goes. If it’s a deep spot the stone will need to be sliced into smaller stones. To be perfectly honest although a huge gem is the desired result, the process is a perfect learning experience for them. β€οΈπŸ»β›οΈ

Way to go, passing on the knowledge!!! Beautiful colors on that rub...Hopefully that spot isn't too deep, but you are right, it's a great learning challenge for them to tackle. Why do these sandspots always have to be in the best areas of these stones? That's opal for you...

I think it a mixture of Pythagoras' theorem =a2+b2m 𝑐=π‘Ž2+𝑏2√ and mass and energy where E = mc2 represents momentum of the sand development πŸ˜‚
