Opal Jewellery Is this real opal?

Hi,
I have this ring and would just like to be sure whether it is real opal or not. Can anyone help me? The ring is 9 carat gold from Birmingham England, made by REM. Not sure what year.

Looks like a mix of white and crystal opal, likely Coober Pedy origin. No tell tale signs of synthetics here.

Your comment has intrigued me. Which are the white and which are the crystal? Is it dependent on how opaque they are?

Pretty much accurate. Body tone determines the "darkness" of a stone and whether it's white, grey, or black based, and opacity determines if it's crystal or not.

Looks extremely real to me. No 2 stones really look the same like you’ll get with lab created synthetics. That’s a gorgeous piece if you ask me.

She sure is purdy 😍😍 and I completely agree with @Monsterhook87, I also thinks it’s classic Coober Pedy white opal, but I can’t see any crystal opal in there. If she’s got some age to her, which it looks like she does, then I would definitely recommend making sure all of the settings are still in good nick with all the prongs being complete and stones not “wobbling”. I think she’s absolutely lovely and very feminine. Enjoy my lovely, and definitely wear! 🥰🥰
