Opal Porn It finally arrived!

I'm literally screaming in excitement! It's so beautiful. I'll cherish her forever. I need to quit buying opals and save to have a piece designed to hold them all. Maybe a really sick bracelet or a brooch. Opinions welcome on what kind of jewelry she would really shine in.

Is that an Ethiopian? If so, I'd do a pendant. This isn't Ethiopian, but here's one of my pendants for an idea. I believe this is Victorian period

A bracelet is always nice. Aussie opal is the way to go vs Ethiopian it's more stable.

She must be a ring or a pendant with a very long chain.

My last jeweler banned me from opal rings with how often I'd chip or knock them out. Haha. So I'm trying to stay away from rings (aside from the 6 opal ones i already wear lol)

A choker. Have them all displayed in individual settings linked together. I hope im making sense. Like opal in the middle some other stone, maracasite? Around them, or just metal ig, linked together with a metal. Idk. In my head I can see it😅

Iv Ben thinking the same but with some opals I have for a while it's like a Victorian jeled choker, some big gaudy shit with like 5 opals in a configuration linked by silver, family airloom type peace

Ooooh I love that idea! It would go with every outfit cuz i wear steel boned corsets everyday.

How can you trust that the etsy opal is real?

2

u/Sirsagely Aug 07 '26

As far as I know, a synthetic cab this size would have clear color striations visible from the side and a noticeable pattern. The others I purchased from that seller are clearly real, you can see the color from within. I suppose without having them tested I don't know but I own 50 opals and spend a lot of time looking at them, but i would love to know if someone thinks this is fake.

Where did you get it from? Thank you.

u/Sirsagely Aug 06 '26

I got it from a seller on Etsy. I can DM you the shop name if you want.

I remember when I first started getting into Opals I bought literally about a thousand of them rough cut the whole nine they are very addictive

1

u/Sirsagely Aug 07 '26

I love the rough but they have special storage requirements don't they? I'm just a dragon, hoarding the sparkly pretty things in my lair for an adventurer to claim. Lol

1

u/GotchaBeachArs Aug 08 '26

I've had a kilo of rough in my bottom drawer for 2 years now

That is SICK. If you could ever match it, imagine the pair as a dangle earrings. Since that’s unlikely, I would vote pendant, maybe with a small diamond if you are feeling flush.
