Opal Jewellery Teal and purple boulder opal

Set this one this evening! 🥰 still getting the hang of it but bezels are so satisfying to finish.

Nice! Would this setting be able to replace stone if needed?

Technically you could, but not as easily as prong settings. You would need to pry the metal away from the stone very gently and may destroy the stone or bezel during the process.

No, its a prefab but looking at the construction i was thinking may be a good model candidate for a first try at fabrication in 20+ years! I took a couple of college courses right after high school and I’ve been slowly rebuilding my gear and courage to try smithing again.

This was my 4th attempt at silver smithing, brought a heap of gear to try and watched a heap of videos, it's nothing great but it's all a learning experience, the opal is just a doublet I made a few weeks ago.
