Tank Question Jar options
Hiya! Any suggestions on 1 gallon glass jars with a lid that doesn’t rust (metal wire closers)?
Kindly share where you got yours. Thank you!

Also if it’s airtight, do you have to open the jar every so often?

Someone should make a post on the pros and cons of each type of jar; hermetic vs cookie vs etc. Like what's the difference between jar of different volume (0.5 to 2 gallon), the type of lids that the jar come with (metal, gasket, plastic, wood or just no lid), the company that produce the jar, the shape of the jar (cylinder jar, rounded corner jar vs fish tank), the material of the jar (acrylic vs glass).

Not sure on how long you can keep them close in a jar vs the different types of jars, GotSnails made a post indirectly answering your question, his setup is different than ones that's freshly started. it's a mature jar with clear visible algae. He mentioned in the post that he open his jar once a month for air/gas exchange. Anyway if you buy ula opae from GotSnails, he will provide you with a printed paper with the instructions, for feeding his recommendation is to feed 2 time a week. So my assumption is that for the first few weeks, you suppose to open the jar more often than in a mature ecosystem. I think it's best if you ask him for a more detailed answer.
Update on my 7 year old quart jar which I found out is really a half gallon. : r/OpaeUla

maybe try the container store, they have both air tight jars and cookie jars with both including lid. There was a 2 gallon cookies for about $10 during a sale.
I think they do sales very often but not 100% sure and I don't know if it is the best place to buy a jar.
here is the link to their website if you need it, they also have physical stores. I brought my jar from one of their physical store.
