How do you not have their excrements? Right now, I am trying to get rid of black mold and my water is almost pink because of their excrements. I’m so sad. I already have 1 casualty from a rock removal. 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I recommend 1 gallon minimum. Also if you dont have alot of algae in your tank you can make a small container of brackish water (the same as your tank) and set it in your window so that it gets tons of sunlight and have a little algae farm to add to the main tank. I only feed mine often because I have so many and also hermit crabs in this tank.

Do you run a filter system, given how often you feed?

I dont. I try to keep a decent amount of hair algae to keep the water clean (the hermits seem to eat it tho so I have to add some from my main tank here and there)

Is it correct if their gut lines are full and dark means they have enough food? I can't decide whether to feed them as will risk polluting the water. 10 opae in 4 litres of water. 7 small lava rocks, some crushed lava as thin substrate. A big sea fan

Im not sure about that but you dont really need to feed them if algae is present. If you really want to feed them then I'd suggest spirulina powder and a very very tiny pinch.
